View of former squatted site at Grangegorman, Dublin 7, yesterday. The robot which used to be there has gone and there is now barbed wire around the property. Looks like the squatters have left… But where to?

Yet another barbed wire vacant eye sore owned by some bank or landlord who doesn’t care how it impacts the other residents or businesses on the street.
Did it look any less of an eyesore when the squatters were there?
Well at least it was being occupied, meaning more people on the street, coming and going, making it safer.
How dare people own property and not allow squatters to live in it for nothing. Disgraceful habit.
Invite them all to live in a property that you own for the gas.
I’m referring to the squatters at all. What I object to is properties left idle because of financial Texas hold-ems.
It’s bad citizenry to leave a gaping ugly vacant building or plot which lowers the tone of the street and has a negative impact on the quality of life and business activity in the area.
You can be sure the owners never have to suffer the look of it from their nice detached house in the leafy suburbs by the sea.
I actually agree with you to an extent Mr T. I don’t see any problem in people having investment property but they should be incentivised to make use of it. There should be penalties on people hoarding investment land and leaving it to decay. The council should compel investment property owners to either develop it or provide some sort of amenity, even if that is only a visual one (nice facade etcetera).

It seems like the squatters were ejected on Wednesday last. I drove by that evening, there were about 10 burley security guards in and out of the site as well as a Garda paddywaggon pulled in around the corner.
They are probably all at work to be fair
Someone else’s private property perhaps?
There were a couple of men around the Brunswick street gates on my way home yesterday evening, one on either side. Looked to be securing it to some degree.
I’m gonna miss that robot
Where have they gone? Back to mum and dad, Killiney area most likely.
To be fair at least one of the squatters had a Dublin accent. They were moving more gardening stuff in on the Tuesday night and then they just vanished. The real villains are the hundreds of builders that will be employed developing that site (has lapsed PP) once NAMA sells it, and the local businesses that will benefit from 150 new homes in the area.
Nothing on the squatters FB, maybe they copped on to publicising where you illegally live being a bad idea
