The fact you have to pay in to hear what the tattered legacy of the rising is says everything you need to know.

        Let me think now….

normal tour of the place, about €10….
        putting on an event…
curator of the talk series is Kimberley Foy, probably doing it for fun / as an interest…
        longer evening opening hours….
        maybe 50 people max capacity….
        likely doors 5.30 / start 6pm….
finish talk around 45 mins later, maybe more…
        chit chat….
        Scones and tea….
        leave at 8pm.

I’d say Fintan is rolling in money after this one and the staff stayed on and worked for free.

I say, just to prevent this from happening again, we take off and nuke the place from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure you two don’t get bamboozled into losing your €10 and been made listen to aul Fintan, eat scones and, god forgive, drink poor tea.

So the Easter Rising was about free tickets to gigs, events, fund-raisers and the like?

      You learn something new everyday.

Fintan O’Toole’ polemic has to be bought. That’s not revolution, that’s business. If he had something genuinely reactionary to say it wouldn’t cost a tenner or a fiver or even a euro (or whatever the Irish Times cost this weather) and it certainly wouldn’t be said over tea and scones in a beautifully appointed Georgian room in a private museum of twaddle and nic-nacs.
