   Harsh? How so?

   He is an amateur golfer, in that he does not take payment for playing in a tournament and can only win a nominal amount for winning a tournament. He then gets to continue playing in Amateur competition and using qualifiers to play in larger tournaments like the Open.

   I’m guessing he didn’t win or we’d have heard about it by now, that £1.8 million pot that he couldn’t bring home.
