Background Check

Taoiseach Enda Kenny arriving at government buildings this morning.

…At the meeting, it is understood the Government will insist that thorough background checks are carried out on all migrants seeking accommodation in Ireland.

This is the first time the EU will ask member states to take in refugees from countries where vetting has not already taken place. There is concern up to 15pc of those seeking to live in Ireland may not be genuine refugees.

“In the normal course of events you would be doing security checks, finger printing and so on. You don’t give up all that,” a Government source said.

Six Gulf countries — Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain — have offered zero resettlement places to Syrian refugees.
        I’d fix this for starters.

Syrian man on RTE this morning, living in Germany and helping with the influx of refugees, made the same point about many of the refugees claiming to be from Syria were not in fact from Syria, were from Egypt or Turkey instead. It’s not just Enda claiming this.

I wouldn’t fancy being a Kurdish refugee in Turkey. There’s a reason they don’t stay there.

If they’re not genuine refugees they’re not coming FROM a war zone! At last common sense is, hopefully, prevailing!

OMG!!! This country is insane! I could lose my home with my two children anytime now and no one to fix that. But Enda worrying about refugees??? Living in Ireland for 15 years now couldn’t afford to apply for citizenship due to thousand euro charge for that and these people getting citizenship the day they enter Ireland…. for free??? What a joke!
