All well and good for those of us who know the pronunciation of letter combinations in Irish, but for the fordinners coming here it;s no help.
Needs phonetics.
“Dia Dhuit” is not “hello”, it is “God be with you”. So, I can’t use it.
meadowlark
Followed by “Dia’s Mhuire Dhuit”
And if you’re enthusiastic it can be “Dia’s Mhuire is Phaidraig Dhuit”
And if you’re REALLY into it you can say “Dia’s Mhuire is Phaidraig is Bhrigid Dhuit.”
And so on. My Irish is appalling btw so I’ll apologise for that. But its a mad language all the same.
