Is that estate agentiese for “na, na, na, naaaa, naaaa, naaaaa ya can’t catch me”?
Fletcher
I must say, that is brilliant!

Estate agents seem like a nice bunch.

I would have thought you’d recognise satire? Maybe too early for you.

Where in Crumlin?

So this is obviously a spoof poster written by someone not happy with DNG’s non development of a vacant site? Do estate agents typically develop vacant sites?
EarthwormJim
I find this pretty confusing ,what are they trying to say ?
Christopher
My guess is they tried to buy it at a reasonable price for what it can be developed for but were told by the agent that it will be worth more than that in a few years and so they aren’t selling. Why do you think we have an accommodation crisis while half of Dublin 1 and Dublin 8 are derelict?
Anomanomanom
Sorry, what dublin 8 do you know about. Iv lived there all my life and it’s no where near being derelict, not even close to half , maybe 5%.
jon
I live in D8 too, and while it’s obviously ludicrous to say half of it is derelict, it’s also a lot higher than 5%. Large parts of James St and Thomas St are completely abandoned.
it’s a lot… official numbers should be available soon from DCC. First record of unused/derelict sites in Dublin…. but with an election looming they may hold off on releasing them… or may not…
Disasta
Seems like a nice way to get new business.

Time to call in the squatters..

What kind of moron thinks estate agents develop sites?
keyboardwarrior
The people who maintain and comment on this site, obvs.
The developer has responsibility or DCC if it was handed over, where did they come up with this stupid lark? Only way DNG may have involvement of ongoing sorts is to a rental property with the tenancy agreement.
fmong
DCC can and will only take responsibility of a site when the development is complete and finished to a certain standard, so it doesn’t inherit a wealth of nightmare-ish problems… if half your housing estate is built and people are living there, but half it isn’t, DCC won’t take it over.. but it looks here like DNG won’t take responsibility for it either, or are at least waiting for the prices to go back up to tiger era before they put the vacant houses on the market.
So you need up with kids playing near open pits, abandoned diggers, sh*tty roads and unfinished drainage and sewers.. and no one dealing with it..
I’m only speculating but I imagine the poster is referring to some situation like that
Clo
And presumably DCC refer them to the agent in case of complaints, the agent doesn’t reply and the owner hides behind the agent.
ruthie
It’s in response to recent notices put up by DNG on the following site saying that it is private property – it’s in response to this development…

This is why we should have introduced a land or site tax instead of a property tax. Then there’d be a cost to the developer for hoarding/landbanking.
There will be, I believe. On a local council level, if not a national one.
