Fiona at [online food delivery service] Deliveroo writes:
We’re having a Deliveroo driver hiring day this Saturday from 12 – 5pm and again on Tuesday December 15, from 12 – 5pm. both at Deliveroo, 30 Pembroke Street Upper, Dublin 2. This is the form we would need all applicants to fill out to apply. Thank you.

Self employed contractors
Suppose it absolves them from having to pay holidays etc.
The upside is that the drivers can set their own hours (and holidays), which is rare enough for part time work
these guys are getting badly criticised in the UK for being terrible to staff, paying below minimum wage along with loads of other offences….meaning they are a bit poo to work for in general.
Is broadsheet a jobs website now?
I’m not sure if you are allowed ask people what nationality they are on such forms. Sure, you can ask if they are legally able to work in Ireland (which is a separate field in Deliveroo’s form), but the employment equality act prohibits discriminating based on nationality. But no worries :)
Also:
“Have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence [which is not a spent conviction within the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974]? ”
Are they allowed to ask this?
Nearly ran over one of these dopes the other day. Dark, no lights/hi viz, cycling erratically down the middle of a busy street.
I would’ve gone for;
‘Be what you wallaby, apply today’
Wombat roo like to do mate?
Get a root on every roo!
Half these lads are dealers.
hahaha, dealers? nah mate, guys making fuppall cycling in the pissing rain for few extra bucks aren’t secretly dealing. you wanna buy some gear pretty easier ways to get it around other than this.
I know plenty of them.
Yes, yes… and that young Kiberd one told a killer *cough* story in that Guts magazine drugs issue
Sweet. I could do with a pick me up, what’s the charge for delivering 100km from the GPO?
Worst cyclists in the city. Consistently break red lights, dressed in dark colours, often no lights. Presumably trying to avoid financial penalties for late deliveries.
Coming from another cyclist.
I see they still can’t make it to Dublin 8
I’ve got a bike
You can ride it if you like.
It’s got a basket
A bell that rings
And things to make it look good.
I’d give it to you if I could
But I borrowed it.
Thanks Syd.
