    There seems to be an awful lot of hype around the height of the water in the Liffey at the moment. Thing is I worked in Dublin over twenty years ago and regularly remembered it as high if not higher. It was just that it rained a lot. We didn’t go all social media/climate change on it. It was just winter ….. and wet.

    You can still see the arches, we’re grand. When they are underwater & the sandbags are out, then we’ll be concerned.

    You’d swear nobody has seen the Liffey in full flow before.

    This is not unusual. Anyone who has lived in Dublin for most of their life will know this. Apart from maybe a 7 year old They might not know this.

    High water in Dublin = Athlone underwater = Donegal washed away, in terms of media attention.

    Maybe we should start naming glacier melts. Make people aware of the fact that Greenland’s turning green, and its ice is about to land in the ocean.
