Old Coulsdon man delivered David Bowie’s milk in summer of ’69 (Croydon Advertiser)
Only 3 days ago, I read somewhere that as a 22 year old (1969) David Bowie weighed only [something-very-light] kgs because he survived on a diet of milk and peppers.
I didn’t believe it at the time because it was one of those internet-picture-with-text-on things but perhaps there’s more to this Old Coulsdon Man story than meets the eye.
Milk, peppers and cocaine. Allegedly.
Possibly complete BS.
Some has-been from the Bay City Rollers.
“He thought the world of us, as we did him”.

That has-been was hanging around with Bowie during the singer’s peak, as opposed to a never-been who posts anonymously on the internet…
Try the Clane area, He used to occasionally visit a local man by the name of R Wood.
“David Bowie, left and Chris Phillips, right.”
Thanks for clearing that up.
Presumably they won’t advertise his actual thoughts on Croydon:
“I’ve got this thing about Croydon. It was my nemesis, I hated Croydon with a real vengeance. It represented everything I didn’t want in my life, everything I wanted to get away from. I think it’s the most derogatory thing I can say about some body or something: ‘God, it’s so fucking Croydon!’ It was gonna be the big second city to London, but it never came to be. Bits of it they put up, these awful faceless office blocks, complete concrete hell. (I suppose it looks beautiful now.)”
