Gulp.
Potatoes and stout.

After months of prep some friends of mine at Postcard Brewing Company will be launching their third beer, a 6% potato stout, this Thursday in Harry Byrnes [Howth Road] in Clontarf from 7pm. I didn’t even know potato stout was a style, but if it’s a patch on their last two beers it’ll be a knockout!
Fight!

Nice design there folks.
if the headline is anything to go by, it should be both brilliant and disgusting all at the same time.
One could go for a few ‘roasters’
Or a ‘mash-up’.
Strong warning!
If this beer does include potato starch there will be fighting.
A few years ago the Shepherdess and me made some potato wine, and fine tasting stuff it was, BUT after three glasses you will want to fight anyone for no reason at all.
Our friends called it divorce juice.
If you can last an hour in Harry Byrne’s without wanting to stab everyone you’re a better man than I am Gunga Din.
Bertie!
(I haven’t been – I only drink between the canals, anything outside tends to be a bit ethnic for my taste ; )
how much a pint €6.70, €7?
Fancy shmancy craft stout + Harry Byrne’s = €7.50 AT LEAST….
I have had beers with varying degrees of potato, including 100% potato which makes it gluten free.
They are pretty tasty. The potato can provide a barely perceptible saltiness to the beer if it’s lightly hopped.
Since this is a stout, it will likely contain roasted barley so not be gluten free but either way, it will be interesting.
