BC Camplight

‘sup?

Lo-fi indie singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brian Christinzi (aka BC Camplight) writes:

The last time I played Dublin I did so solo but brought along my friend and BC Camplight guitarist Jonno for moral support. We shared a single cot-like bed above a ShoeZone on Talbot street.

On the first night a naked homeless couple broke through the window in the hallway and had sex against our door for the entire evening. Was impressive but we were trapped in the room. Jonno was the first to be brave enough to pry open the warm sticky door and step over them.

After my show Jonno and I went around drink challenging the city.

We ended up at an after party where the host eventually collapsed. Jonno carried him to bed but I’m still not convinced the man hadn’t already passed away.

Anyway, full band show at Whelan’s [Camden Street, Dublin 2]  May 1st. Tickets go on sale 8am Friday morning. Get in early.

just hope you don’t require any medical services why you stay in this 3rd rate country. They’ll charge you nearly €100 and give you MRSA..

Then morning came and he realized it was all a bad dream and he’d never read a Roddy Doyle book before going to bed again.

If you’re in a country you’re not used to, & a pair of them are making the beast with two backs up against your bedroom door, I can understand how it might require a certain amount of bravery to open that door.

If you think that’s nonsense you haven’t been to a Camplight concert. The dude has his own bartender on stage.

            Rad man.

What he wrote simply did not happen. He’d have liked it to happen but ti did not. It is what he imagines happens in Dublin. Dude came played his gig got drunk probably went to a party, aw a guy who was well cut. Went home and heard noises. The end.

            An arch bluffer.

            Sorry “Jay-Z”

I know it’s stupid but I always find it infuriating when people say dumb things like “simply didn’t happen”. Whatever your personal feelings are (for some reason) aside, I repped that whole tour in October. I was there. That’s why I followed the link here to this site. I saw the hilarious Garda report (which he read on stage). I also had to be the one to ask the front desk for money back…which they only got when the Garda had to come back ,again, to confirm they saw and ejected the 2 nude homeless people I appreciate your cockiness though.

WAAAAIT!!! How is Brian playing Manchester in April if he is still banned from the UK?? Did I miss something??

I was going to get tickets to go to Dublin but his Songkick says he has one UK show. BTW, people above, this dude is the real deal. He was the key to The War On Drugs. When BC left they turned awful.

Yeah, I bought tickets to his Birmingham gig and he was deported the night before the show. Banned in the UK for fighting and drinking and allowed in Ireland. Does that make sense? Actually I guess it does.

It depends on who you ask. Some people think he’s a genius. Some people hate his voice. He is a bit strange but has a large underground following due to the fact that he is the anti-product. He does what he wants musically even if it is the polar opposite of trend. He’s one of a small handful of people good enough to do that and still have a career.

Philadelphia. Used to be part of The War On Drugs. He and Kurt Vile went solo and left the band at the same time.
