“Recently a well-known comic musician from Limerick described his generation as either getting on planes or jumping in rivers. With a suicide rate of about twice the national average, Limerick City is an extreme example of the national mental health and suicide crisis.

Jack Olohan met with the Corbett Suicide Prevention Patrol to discuss their work and the problems being faced on a daily basis. In the run-up to the election the issue of mental illness and suicide rates in Ireland must be clearly addressed.”

They do brilliant work, without reward, and are a shining example of the humanity that we are surrounded with in this lovely country.

    People don’t want to know.

Frightening to think this is happening and nobody is talking about it. A comedian with a bag on his head spoke louder in 1 minute then all the politicians together have in the last 20 years.

I could be mistaken, but is it down to where people take their lives? As in, someone from a different county could decide that they’re going to “do it” in Limerick, horrible and all as it is to write that. It would be recorded in Limerick then?
I think there was something similar said about the Cliffs of Moher.
I did not enjoy writing that! :(

They have huge respect around town, and rightly so. I may be wrong but I think it’s only in the past few months that they’ve moved from foot power to pedal power – fair to all who have donated or got involved in some way.
