I wanted to reply “It means nothing to me” and I was gutted to remember that was Ultravox.
Somewhere, Midge Ure just felt a little less lonely.
I get very excited when I hear the opening bars to “Vienna”….. So much so that I suffer from pre midge ure ejaculation…
True.
+ 1
But I want the voting machines….
Actually there’s a thought… How long before the poisonous voting machine debacle recedes in memory for us to have a reasoned debate again about whether (a more) electronic voting system would be a good idea in future?
Can someone explain to me what happened there with the electronic voting thing? I was too young and uninterested at the time to accurately remember now. CSPE had fupp all use to me.
Martin Dempsey (spits) bought a bunch of machines that were absolutely shoiiiiiote and had issues around security and providing a backup record (printout). Of course Dempsey (spits) being Dempsey (spits), instead of fixing them or getting rid of them, he just stored them in a warehouse for years which cost an absolute fortune and in the end after about 60m euro we had to pay people to take them away.
We bought enough for the whole state, we piloted them in GE2002 and Nice II on a limited basis, someone quickly decided (correctly in my view) that they were too insecure for electoral use, lacking an infallibly verifiable vote-to-count trail, they were mothballed at great expense before being sold for scrap metal three years ago.
Thanks lads. They really are some shower, aren’t they? I remember some of this but I didn’t know it was that bad. And they just keep making the same mistakes. It would be funny but… yeah, it’s just not.
Ah now
Tell the lads about Nora Owen
( annuder bank of why you shouldn’t vote Fine Gael evidence)
And the voting machine election night
That could a’bin Joan
This postcode thing will go the same way.
I hope it does, on a fitness-for-purpose basis, but I remember how long postcodes to catch on in provincial parts of the UK and especially Northern Ireland. Even the Dublin district codes were very slow to take off in popular usage.
‘To Cut a Long Story Short’?
He’s just locking in all the little S̶i̶m̶o̶n̶ ̶H̶a̶r̶r̶i̶s̶e̶s̶ gremlins that are going to be changing our votes to FG ;o)
You scamp
I’m vomiting already at the thought of the rolling coverage on RTE and the mini-orgasms the presenters and reporters get as they give yet another update from the count centre.
I’m voting No
Is the Ballott Secret, then why isi there a serial nunber on each paper and whats the
purpose of each elector being assigned an register identity with a letter and
number, and now an Eircode.
Your conspiracy needs more padding, maybe a few space aliens on the Hill of Tara or something.
why isi there a serial nunber on each paper?
– To prevent electoral fraud where people print their own and stuff the ballotbox
whats the purpose of each elector being assigned an register identity with a letter and
number, and now an Eircode?
-To prevent electoral fraud where more people turn up to vote than are entitled to vote.
why yuo stil havent told us how is babby formed??
