This afternoon

Croke Park

Up to 6,000 school students from every Secondry School in Ireland receive the National Flag, in Croke Park, the first of series of official State events taking place over the next four weeks as part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.

Day off school, in fairness.

Good idea, a pity it has been betrayed by those in government so many times throughout the years..

I think that’s just schools in Dublin at Croker… correct me if I am wrong.

Lots of schools up and down the country have been having this flag presentation ceremony up and down the country already.

I was there today. Schools came from all over the place: Limerick, Kerry, Sligo, Waterford etc etc. If they had already got a flag they were presented with the proclamation in Irish and English.

It was also 2 degrees baltic . No wonder everyone looks a bit serious in the pictures. They were fighting off the hypothermia for two hours. No mean feat.

Whihc reminds me, there was a school there from Birr as well. (Groan)

Your man in the second picture looks like Noel Coward in “In Which We Serve”.
