Boggers gonna bog.
Ah sure its only slagging if they are boggers.. Hope they are all genderly correct. Haters gonna hate.
What is it when you give out about middle class people?
Self deprecation. A stranger to you Don.
But I thought you were the working class woman’s hero?
I’m loving this Tony character. He’s like a bot or a script that just bitches in a whiny way about how we all shouldn’t bitch so much because aren’t we all terrible. Keep it up, nifty piece of automated software!
I think he is trying to troll but hasn’t quite worked out how to troll
Was it for Hicks?
Presumably they’re… happy?
I mean presumably, I think they hurl faeces when they’re not.
HA!
Is it worse to slag people because of their sexual orientation rather than their place of origin? Or is there a difference? Grown up question.
It’s their conduct I’m slagging, Mr. Moral Enforcement. They are hamming up every much-satirised stereotype of the rural legislator. A archetype of rural legislator that opts out of actual legislation in order to secure goodies for their constituency. And then bitch of high-heaven that rural Ireland is neglected in national policy. Maybe because their representatives are content with a patched road or a bypass and campaigning for drink driving to be permissable, while national development plans and spatial strategies are far, far over their heads.
Auwww
Wa’da matta wi’ da baba
Are ya teething
What would they have without legislators looking out for their area?
The same thing happens in England, get off the high horse
But this particular bunch would support anyone (and have), no matter what, as long as that new pier in Dingle got built
Is the one in the purple shirt drunk?
I just think he’s so excited he might explode!!!!
My first thought as well.
Plays a mean accordion though
He should have gone for that instead of awkward celebratory fist-flinging
fella in the yellow tie looks like he had a skinful!
Best beggars in the Dáil

No contribution to national matters, no suggestions on how to address rural challenges, on jobs, health, emigration, anything.
Only questions about getting grants, payments for constituents. why they are lauded as anything special is beyond me.
Nice bit of pursed lipped tutting there. Your disapproval is scathing. Beyond you indeed.
all they care about is the kingdom they live in ! this is what is wrong with politics in Ireland.
This type od crap belongs in the 1950s
Obviously not. It belongs right here, right now. The people have spoken. You could always say the people are wrong, but sure so what, they are sovereign.
If you’re from Kerry that explains a lot
Im not. So it doesn’t.
:-(
Lovely Liam from Lixnaw, not you, youre different
The people in Kerry are clearly morons. Under FF the father helped wrecked the country then the son is basically handed the seat. The two of them were on the late late show and the brother who was just elected could not string a sentence together. Seems he was voted for just because he’s a healy.
Hindsight is a great thing. Who in opposition was shouting at the government to stop the madness? FG and Labour’s only criticism was that the government wasnt spending enough . Bar Morgan Kelly and one or two orthers no other economists expressed any concern so why would they be presumed right and everyone else wrong?
Your high right now yeah? LOADS of people said stop, LOADS. You obviously don’t know what hindsight is, you idiots went and vote again this clan. In hindsight is looking back thinking “if only we knew”, you know now and still voted them.
Who are these LOADS in opposition??? FG and Labour tried to out do FF in what they were going to give away ahead of the 2007 election. Anyone far left had an issue with not enough of the money going into social issues. I’m not an FF supporter but this nonsense that FG and Labour have been banging on about where they wouldn’t have run the country into the ground like FF is horsesh!te.
Banks, Stockbrokers, ordinary businesses and peoples’s personal wealth all went tits up. These were people who would have had their fingers on the pulse of the economy. Why weren’t they listening to these LOADS of people?
getting grants, payments for constituents. why they are lauded as anything special is beyond me.
You answered your own question there
“The Kingdom”
+
“The good people of Kerry” vs. “Those people up in Dublin”

Flat Cap

A serious mandate.
Rinse and repeat.
They’ve used their rhetoric to turn every election into a Kerry vs. Dublin All-Ireland final. And they’ve made themselves the personification of ‘Kerry’. A vote for anyone else is a vote for ‘Dublin’. It’s a thing of genius. Horrible, horrible genius.
And works because of all the amount of jackeens who sneer at everyone from beyond the pale.
*because of*
I hate to be that Dublin* V The Rest guy – who am I kidding, I LOVE to be that guy – but there’s a smidge of bogger-baiting on this thread.
*Full disclosure: this muck savage would go insane without regular cultural/retail trips to the capital.
lol
Nothing like a bit a culture from a good inhaling of cow manure.
We make the best of things down in the sticks..
The Healy Rae lads are only playing into the sneering attitude of the ignoramouses in the big smoke..
It’s not that they’re smart. It’s that the people who vote for them are indescribably stupid.
Absolutely correct, it seems people in Kerry are complete morons.
Worth remembering that 48,904 of those who did vote in Kerry voted for someone who wasn’t a Healy-Rae.
When you look at the total electorate in Kerry of 112,751 it works out as 3 out of 4 entitled to vote in Kerry didn’t vote for them.
They were massively helped by the fact that pretty much all the other parties ran either poor/or very poor campaigns in Kerry and there were no other strong “independent” candidates. Sinn Fein in particular had a horror show – Ferris’s vote increased by 168 votes from the last general election even thought the turnout increased by something like 36 thousand (due to the merging of the Kerry South and Kerry North into one constituency)
Apply that maths logic to the Marriage equality referendum and let me know if you think the public also got that one wrong
Wow. I feel so sorry for Kerry people. I’m sure they all don’t vote Healy-Rae. I’m sure many are embarrassed by this kind of (lets go up and stick it to the rich people in the big smoke by having a rally outside the Dail) thing. ‘The Kingdom’ could really do with removing the royal family.
No need to feel sorry for us, we are perfectly happy with them
Again morons
Have to agree with you there Anom
Whatever about the first one, the new one (Danny?) looks like he is constantly pissed or just out of bed with a hangover. Can’t imagine he is the brightest spark.
Jaysus wept
we need the wall rebuilt
Can anyone tell me who we should have voted for ‘in the national interest’ and why?
A national legislator? Maybe? In an election to the national legislature that’d seem to make sense.
Such as?
Are you still working on that list of who we should have voted for?
I’m starting to admire these lads’ not-giving-a-f*ckness and brilliantly pulled stunt to annoy us hoors up in Dublin.
This
The gombeen bogger routine is just that, a routine.
The Healy-Rae’s have run their businesses successfully for decades, they’re not just farmers on the TD ticket. They know exactly how to play it, and it has clearly worked for them.
I agree that their schtick can be nauseating because I think Michael, in particular, is so much smarter than he lets on. For all that, it’s proven to be devastatingly effective in harvesting votes.
Has @ghoner just demoted himself from a citizen to a subject? He must have binged on A.Dumas.
Will he call Maura a dauphine? :-)
I hear Scandinavia is full of well developed societies worth emigrating too.
Yeah, finland is booming and Sweden is apparently thriving on its social model. Pfft… Norway, meanwhile is loving its status as worlds biggest binge drinkers, and Denmark number one on the happy pills.
Mmmm, dignified.
From the political power-house that brought you the “drink driving permit”.
http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/healyrae-drinkdrive-permit-plea-is-rejected-29024545.html
While it’s obvious to nearly everyone that particular idea was completely ridiculous, this is one of the reasons they keep getting voted in. The (completely neccessary) rules on drink driving combined with the recession that wreaked far more havoc on rural communities than urban ones, absolutely smashed not only pub owners trade but many rural peoples social options.
Very few other TDs have this on their radar, the Healy Rae’s do. This is why they get elected.
Anne Marie take note.
While it’s obvious to nearly everyone in Kerry that particular idea was completely ridiculous, this is one of the reasons Kerry people can’t believe it’s still brought up. Classic piece of Healy Rae promotion that ye Dublin clowns keep recycling.
Calm down, I’m on your side you furry little sibling lover you
3 years ago now, wonder how many people would have been splattered into a fine paste if it had been passed…
Fair play to Michael Healy-Rae for delivering a pitch-perfect version of this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmyuE0NpNgE
Danny doesn’t appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed. What does that say about Kerry?
That we aren’t shallow enough to judge by appearances?
He can’t string two sentences together. So maybe it’s that your idiot’s.
Maybe it is, maybe it is……
“A man who will misuse an apostrophe is capable of anything”
And you’d know Gooch
Or perceptive enough to notice you just sent two apes to parliament.
haha brilliant
Only two?
I’m still waiting on you to enlighten me as to who we should have voted for. Who are these legislators who only serve the national interest?
“Danny doesn’t appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed. What does that say about Kerry?”
That got a bit of an lol.. more like a haaaa really. Great stuff.
I think there’s a lesson here. Stick on a suit and you can get away with anything.
The tin foil hat is most becoming. And appropriate.
Rattle off a few names of candidates Kerry should have voted for so we’ll know the next time
Yerself
Sur’ you’d giv’dem Sowt Kirrie bhiys a right oul’ run
Throw Maurice onta’ the ticket with’ja
An’ ye’ll even have them worried
( I’d even vote for ya)
I’ve said it before but if we had a Healy-Rae in Dublin NW the Luas would run to Ikea and the Ballymun Regeneration would have been finished long ago. Instead we have party-liners and nothing gets done. I can fully appreciate the need for national politicians and party politics but, given how impotent local politics is in Ireland, it’s hard to imagine a better combination for a 3-seater than a government TD, an opposition TD and a strong independent who fights for everything going to be sure of keeping their seat.
@Gooch: Perhaps those that think and act ‘the right way’?
I’m all eyes. List them off there
@Gooch: I’m in broad agreement with you: that’s why I put quotation marks around ‘right way’.
You Dublinn peepil with your fancy quotation marks :-)
Hah! I’m a rural sort, albeit from the furthest reaches of the Pale.
Does it ever occur to people that it might not be an act and that they also might be canny political operators and savvy businessmen and that Dail full of people that were effective in looking after the constituencies that elected them might be an improvement on … whatever it is we’ve got?
A Dail full of people who were hellbent on looking out for their area and no one else’s?
By Jove, you’ve cracked it lol
I’m with Nigel on this one. Without good local TDs, the privilege gap between Dublin and some of the rural constituencies would be even bigger than it is now. It’s easy to disdain parish-pump politics when your parish is well looked after.
All the stunning stupidity in the name of the national interest, going right back to the Celtic Tiger era, actually makes it a relatively attractive prospect.
