    The worst thing is it seems to make people who were at one time funny into run of the mill unfunny RTE faces.

        Yes really.
        The ginger guy who is now on that god awful 80’s themed slurrypit of a programme was actually a fantastic standup when he was starting out. Unhinged, loud, unpredictable and always hilarious.
        He has now become the opposite of each of those.

            It’s predictable lazy and barely even scripted. It’s essentially the reminiscing people do at Sunday dinner turned into a TV show. It’s rubbish.

            Well, you could say that gogglebox is just a show about people staring at a tv. Very entertaining though.

          He wasn’t a fantastic stand-up. He was mediocre & went for the easy gags.

      I’m with you on this one, Steak. RTÉ can’t do humour. It just disappears in a cloud of smugness. Republic of Telly is truly awful.

        Bit harsh but it is difficult.

        They have a small market & end up trying to appeal to all tastes.

        They also don’t have teams of writers like the bigger UK and especially US shows.

      Yawn – predictable “anything that comes out of RTE is rubbish” ranting. Steak & the rest of you, either migrate away to Journal.ie or try & come up with something interesting to say. There are a thousand trolls bashing out the same poo. We get it.

    This Michaela girl is going to have a great time taking out slander law suits against all the smart asses in the Irish media.

    I’ll bet half of what they claim about her is completely made up and they’re just banking on good old Irish class snobbery to back them up.

      Class snobbery is what has her fawned over by RTE and bought and paid for by INM while Deco from the flats is released to a halfway house and not even a solitary paparazzo.

        Look – it’s a big story and this controversy helps drive ratings and the media/advertising world is in a freefalling tailspin down toward tabloidism anyway – this kind of story just highlights that fact
