Broadsheet Trailer Park: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

What you may need to know:

1. When a mad scientist threatens New York, a group of mutated turtles and a talking rat emerge from the shadows to protect their home.

2. You know, for kids.

3. They can’t all be winners.

Back in 1987, the first animated series was produced in Dublin by Jimmy Murakami.

5. Of course they were “hero turtles” back then. It was assumed that the word “ninja” would result in kids killing each other with nunchucks and katanas.

Broadsheet prognosis: Leonardon’t.

Release Date: June 3.

It’s not just that I don’t like the individual movies that he makes, it’s that he somehow manages to take all of these varied and diverse stories and turns them all into the exact same film. There’s no nuance or dynamic to them, it’s just all 100%, all of the time.

Like TMNT, for example, you could make a really cool, dark, immersive film out of that. Like Blade Runner with more fight scenes. But no, it’s now basically Transformers with mutants instead of robots.

Megan Fox as April O’Neill? I mean, come on…

Surely the idea of most films like this is for an adult to sit down relax and turn your brain off for 90 mins. Slating films like this really is pointless, it’s for kids really anyway

The last one was so offensively stupid, it wasn’t possible to ignore the huge flaws.

Transformers, Turtles… what will Bay add to his list of missed opportunities next time?

Shamus is in it. That’s a bit mad. To be fair it looks a bit better then the first one…. Which I didn’t watch.

Point of reference, they were Ninja Turtles in the US and Hero Turtles in UK/Irl, (and possibly elsewhere).
