I know you don’t normally do this…. but my bike was stolen from my secure balcony 3 floors up (yes three floors!!) over the weekend in Dublin. Apartment below us had the same thing happen to them too…Not sure what day as I was away for the weekend but if anyone spots someone selling a red FUJI bike (above) around town or saw somebody suspicious with a ladder on the North Circular Road during the weekend  it would be a great help.

What’s the legal position if you found someone coming up a ladder trying to nick your bike and you pushed it back?

The term ‘racism’ can be applied to nationalism. It’s bigotry against someone because of what “tribe” they belong to. It says a lot about you that you see bigotry but are only motivated to attack someone referring to that bigotry as racism.

            Moyes – dictionary says no.

Didn’t attack anyone – please explain what the situation would be if the person was a black Romanian. It says a lot about you that you’re willing to white-knight for some imaginary Romanian to score sweet SJW points.

At any rate, I am going to assume that the GP meant “Roma” rather than Romanian. A lazy shorthand when there are any number of scumbro groups, both foreign and domestic roaming the capital.

            “Moyes – dictionary says no.”

That’s nice. Reality says yes though.

LOL. Sorry, I didn’t realise you were one of those types. My condolences.

@ The Gawm. Thank you. I did mean Roma and have been corrected on this before, by Romainan co-workers actually. I could see their frustration with this crew too as everyone gets tarred with the same brush.

This was a conversation about one street in Dublin which I know quite well and have personal experience of. Nothing more.

Sorry Moyse, what “type” am I? Continue generalising, it’s sure is entertaining seeing you expose your compromised intellect on the internets.

If I find a competing definition of “racism” on some other site (say, for instance, a stormfront-y type place), does that nullify your definition? Can we agree on the definition of “semantics”?

            My condolences for your employer.

“Sorry Moyse, what “type” am I? )”

You used SJW and ‘white knighting’ in the same paragraph. I don’t need to say much more.

“it’s sure is entertaining seeing you expose your compromised intellect on the internets.”

That was gratifying to read. Thank you.

            “My condolences for your employer.”

My condolences to your World of Warcraft chums you’re ignoring to write these hilariously stupid posts.

“Romanian” is mostly used erroneously to refer to Roma people. Which are an ethnic minority and yeah, that makes it racist.

Also, if I call all Nigerians lazy, is that not racist because Nigerians aren’t a race?

            Idiot.

          8. MoyestWithExcitement

“Thank you. I did mean Roma and have been corrected on this before, by Romainan co-workers actually.”

Oh. Well that’s much better then. Perfectly ok to label roma as criminals.

      1. Rob_G

        Ah, “Romanians”, is it?

I could say, with as much justification, “oh, some shirt-lifters probably took it”.

      2. some old queen

It’s not racist as they are of the same race. I lived beside those friggers on NCR and never again. They would take the eye out of your head and I am pretty sure the guards in the Bridewell would agree.

I have also worked with Romanians who were first class people and also agree with me on that gang’s reputation.

        1. MoyestWithExcitement

I guess the point here is someone talks of something being stolen and your response is ‘Romanians’. It’s not a good look for you. It also puts your comments about brexit and immigration in a different light.

          1. MoyestWithExcitement

“The Romanians don’t do legal, especially on NCR.”

Your use of the word ‘especially’ suggests different.

          2. Catherine McEntee

Moyest, why are you such a sh!t stirrer today? You know well that SOQ’s comment was NOT a racist comment, if you’re agitated and chewing wasps this morning, have a Camomile tea or six and douse yourself in lavender oil.

Sniping at others, as you are, is uncalled for and downright nasty.

          3. MoyestWithExcitement

“You know well that SOQ’s comment was NOT a racist comment,”

Are you joking? It was textbook definition racism ffs. Go lie down.

        2. Rob_G

I worked in that area for a number of years; I would have thought it was more likely to be one of the home-grown crop of feral youths than a gang of marauding ‘Romanians’.

          1. some old queen

In the past yes but O’Devaney is gone. That said, there are some dodgy characters in it now who have been kicked out of council housing but nicking bikes would not be their game.

          2. Catherine McEntee

Moyest, you obviously have problems or you wouldn’t flit around from thread to thread to see who you can pull an argument out of next.

Why not put the same effort into trying to inject a bit of humour into Broadsheet instead of being the resident poison troll?

You may be ‘happy in the misery’ but FFS keep it within.

    1. The Old Boy

The correct legal position is that he fell, judge, and I was just inside having a cup of tea when I heard a blood-curdling roar followed by the crunch of flesh and bone on iron railing.

  2. Rob_G

Sorry to hear about your bike – was it locked? Could have been a neighbour who realised that you were away for the weekend.

  3. Murph Mikey

You were away for a week and didnt think to just bring the bike inside? especially if its worth something to you???? Also, it happened to your neighbour down below too….come on….wake up
