A caiman bedecked with butterflies spotted in the Amazon by photographer Mark Cowan from the University of Michigan Herpetology Division.
Apparently a common site in tropical climates where salt is scarce and insects regularly drink ‘tears’ from the eyes of reptiles and amphibians.
