Bob the troubadour winning the Nobel is a category error.I admire his ouvre but his lyrics too often descend into meaningless doggerel to be considered as literature without the music. His one novel was atrocious and he just doesn’t demonstrate the sustained intellectual rigor to stand alongside previous laureate. He is the Trump of Nobel winners.
Phillip Roth must be scratching his head .

never ever got the thing some people seem to have with Dylan’s music but always found it interesting how it’s regularly deployed as a weapon by some music bores in an effort to beat others into inferiority….each to their own I suppose

Partly because they can, but I’d say that some of the items probably either are made in the UK or are distributed from there.

The disappearance of processed food might be a good thing in the long run.
It should serve as a wake up call on food sustainability here and the importance of growing, eating & buying local produce.

Unfortunately the cost of growing replacement goods here would result in crippling prices hikes. ‘

It makes much more sense to grow bananas elsewhere than in Meath.

The current trend against free trade and towards protectionism is going to prove very expensive and future generations are going to have to scramble to resolve
