My sister sent me this video today that was produced, shot and edited by my nephew, Oisin O’Connell. It’s really poignant. I wonder if you guys could post it and help bring attention to a really worthy cause.
DCUMPS [Dublin City University Media Production Society] sez:
We, at DCU MPS, are absolutely delighted to announce that the Charity for the DCUtv 24-Hour Broadcast will be The Peter McVerry Trust. Our Committee unanimously voted in The Peter McVerry Trust, after it was suggested to us by our Deputy Events Officer, Laura, who, herself, battled with homelessness for two years when she was only a child. She, of all people, knows the hardships of homelessness and how hard it is to deal with, which is why we are so looking forward to contributing to such a wonderful cause….
Excellent. Well done. The story about the toys is upsetting. I can just imagine her realising what was really going on.
Well done her and Oisin O’Connell. Every time I spent time with people in their late teens early twenties, I am encouraged and have a new sense of hope for the future.
Some smart young cookies out there with the right priorities.
+1
Couldn’t have put it better!
What an extraordinary, brave woman. Fair play and all that.
Loads of comments on Repeal and virtually none on this.
It’s clear which kind of ‘Equality’ matters more to the smug self satisfied BS readers, sons and daughters of well heeled professionals, pretending to care about social issues.
Amazing what you can read into the comments on a small Irish website
we despise everyone equally, dear boy.
This was really powerful, well done.
+1. It was sad and uplifting at the same time. Congratulations to this young lady, I’m guessing she has a bright future ahead of her.
Really interesting piece. A sad reflection on modern Ireland
We’ve been turned into a right poohole all right. Rents upwards of 1500/1600 are the norm in Dublin.
No action on rent controls with rents spiralling out of control.
Childcare, healthcare equally dismal. Any bit of bad luck at all and people can easily fall through the cracks.
