‘Tis officially the season, folks – this year’s issue of the Holly Bough has landed in Cork, with a modern touch this year…
…with cover art from Marvel artist and Corkonian Will Sliney, portraying, among others, Michael O’Regan, the famous Patrick Street Echo Boy, slinging papers on the city’s main thoroughfare for over 50 years.
Crossword entries are pouring in already.
In fairness.

I was struggling with that whole magazine look and its strange familiarity….
Bar the image in the middle, it looks like our secondary school student mag from the early 80s :)
…in a kinda, sorta way… damn familiar but not at all recognised stuff !
I wonder do primary school kids still get Sonas/Spraoi/whatever-it-was these days?
I thought the same Clampers, probably what he was going for
Kieran NYC, Sugradh, Sonas, Siamsa and Spraoi
I dunno if kids get it anymore, I used to not open it until Christmas day, was it full of Catholic indoctrination then or now?
I wasn’t included
Gutted
A few covers here for a trip down memory lane, deffo recognize the 1975 one, wasn’t born then myself but we must have had a few lying around from my siblings, I also think I was wrong on the Catholic indoctrination, it was just puzzles and stories and stuff

I have that 1972 one here up in the attic with the Christmas Decs
Mmm, the ’72 is a little familiar too, I seem to recall it having a hard cover? Pretty sure I have one of these annuals somewhere along with some Beanos and my First Holy Communion Missal!
Yeah
Has a hard cover alright
In bits mind you
No Keano?
