They still don’t usually say “EU” on them, should be “GB” and then the EU flag

Though technically, Northern Ireland is not Great Britain, so they should really not use GB, but UK.

You could literally right anything you like in that space. Some people in the north have IRL written of their no plates. Some have GB, UK and NI.

Contrary to widely held/implied view in the south, not everyone in the north identifies with our neighbouring island as their nationality.
NI is not GB, legally UK, but not GB
Normally their are no ‘national’ identifiers on peoples number plates in the north, unless you are trying to make a point, which isn’t always wise due to relatively recent historical unpleasantness.
