A more effective plan would be to fire the executives on six figure salaries who are clearly incapable of doing their jobs properly, rather than hacking at the pay of the drivers who are.
How many executives are there on 6 figure salaries?
Need to save 10mm so need to fire 100 of them.
Sack all the drivers – wasters. Overpaid as it stands. let them apply for jobs under new conditions.

There are plenty in the public sector not getting anything as generous as the allowances and rates of those in Bus Eireann.
How many allowances do the drivers get? Sounds like one of those jobs where you get an allowance for having arms, an allowance because it’s Monday, an allowance for driving & an allowance for using a gearstick. And triple time after 3 hours work.

just like the senior management team who get their 6 figures plus bonuses for wearing ties with their shirts, successfully attending personal development training and going on various trips abroad to examine how they run their amazing bus services in say Singapore

“Public transport” is almost by definition loss-making.
You can’t have it both ways. Either a functioning public service, supported by all taxpayers, or a patchy, screw you private service.
