To celebrate the release of the talent-stuffed shortlist for this year’s Choice Music Prize, all we ask from YOU is a song from the current generation of Irish artists that we can play at an UNSPECIFIED time.

My current favorite song by a new Irish artist is Falling for You by Daithí featuring Sinead White because, not only is it a powerful vocal on her end, but he spent the last year traveling Ireland, recording sounds from the landscape to incorporate into his tracks, so i mean this quite literally when i say this is the sound of Ireland!

My current favourite is” Drowning” by Kevin Nolan because of his stunning vocal and dramatic musical setting

As this affecting video reveals his music is unllike anthing else being produced in Ireland .Although he is acknowledged by fellow musicians his work has not as yet achieived the wider audience it deserves

‘My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Tin Man by Saint Sister because it has great harmonies, a real velvet flow and it’s just cool’

My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Good Intentions by The New 52 because it’s a bouncy acoustic wonder co-written by Shankill’s finest Darragh Cullen and Boo Hewardine of 80s cult faves The Bible.

‘My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Dunno by Haven’t A Clue because I have a young kid and have no life.

My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Charlene by Chewing on tinfoil because the video is so simple honest which reflects the song. It’s a tune that’s emotional but not at all soppy. It’s a touch racous and sung in a genuine accent. An all round great package.

I know she’s been around for ages, but Cathy Davey’s new album New Forest is very good, particularly the song Arrow. Birdie is a good listen too.

My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is
    Cruel Brunette
    by
    The Strypes
    because
it’s lyrically dextrous, rhythmically fun, aurally pleasing, nauseously honest, and damn catchy.

Have a read of the lyrics even if you don’t want to hear the song.

“Sad songs and waltzes and yesterday’s clothes, are useless to me now”

My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Bullethead by Fangclub because its a great rough sounding riff laden track that showcases the bands grungey influences. Not sure if it qualifies as new as picked it up midway through last year.
Good few decent tracks from new bands last year; most of ALL TVVINS album, Rocstrongs EP, Hare Sqead and BARQ all worth more than a single listen.

My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Battles by Clombia Mills because it simply just rocks and I’ve been looking forward to new stuff from them for yonks

  11. Clare

My current favourite song by a new Irish Artist is Good Intentions by The New 52. Why? Because its a thumping good tune by a young Irish talent, Darragh Cullen. Both he and his band could go far.

  12. Ciara Phelan

My current favourite song by a new Irish artist is Good Intentions by The New 52 because it’s a catchy, feel-good song with great musicianship.
