The north in a nutshell. No more false equivalence from our southern family who should know better, please.

Gerry had no constructive comeback to that fact though. The world is changing fast.
If you think the DUP are staunch defenders of a changed world and the Polish community’s rights, you’re in for a rude awakening.
I know very well the score up there, it’s merely a convenient fact for her in the usual tit for tat squabbling that goes on between two sides who eternally want to compare scars at any given opportunity.
Both sides need to get rid of all the old wood for things to change, however the demographics of the place will change regardless.
I think that’s the false equivalence that Tomás was talking about.
Who?
You, Scundered, you’re making the false equivalence between the current behaviour of the DUP and SF.
…Gerry’s comeback will be remembered long after even Gerry himself has gone…
Don’t call it a comeback…
…sorry, yes…the original commenter said comeback…I would have said retort and Belfast people would call it banter…but very clever whatever you call it…
He hasn’t gone away you know
I think Yep is referring to the first line of well-known musician LL Cool J’s song “Mamma said knock you out”.

…oops…can’t think how I missed Yep’s LL Cool J allusion…
That was indeed what I was alluding to. Banter as they say.
If I said ‘Boom boom’ to Gerry for his joke would that be incendiary?
it would be dynamite
Fire away so.
Blow me
I will in me arson.
And on that bombshell …
Crocs?
Uggh.
Such a false equivalence; the IRA have killed, what, barely one tenth of the number of people that crocodiles have killed in the past 40 years?
Also swamp =/= bog
I suppose if the Polish Language had been eradicated and their culture dismissed and pummeled by a dominant foreign Empire propped up by consecutive Stormount Governments, then they may deserve a Polish Language Act to preserve and promote a resurgence in interest and usage in Polish.
+ 1 Iwerzon
Irish was spoken in the north before Foster’s ancestors arrived. That’s the obvious difference.
Gaeilge is being spoken in Belfast again, east and west, in the 21st century.
It’s hard to think if people who deserve each other more than the Shinners and the DUP.
true
Tbf, however you feel about the Shinners, they are far more progressive, constructive, and forward looking.
All that may be an act or PR or whatever but time after time they leave the DUP et al. looking like cavemen
I think it’s fair to say most DUP voters would like to see far less Polish speakers about the place. They’re mostly papists for a start.
the voters don’t care what religion they are, only interested in which way they would vote. I doubt that the Polish would be split in the same way it is in the north between religions.
