I know you don’t normally do this, but this girl was found outside Davies Plumbers on Harmonstown Rd [Artane, Dublin 5] . Security said she’d been there 30mins. She’s super friendly and clean, just recently lost it seems….

Anyone?

Probably got up there from st annes I’d say. Regularly see lost dogs in a panic running out the vernon ave entrance and up towards harmonstown looking for their owners. Nightmare. Hope she gets home.

And any word on if she’s chipped? Isn’t it the law now that you have to have your dog chipped?

There’s a place called the Dog Den on the same road. They provide a dog minding service, grooming, etc. I wonder would they know anything about it?

Dogs like her belong in the countryside unless the owners have lots of time to bring them out for a run, on a daily basis.

They need to run, there’s few sights I enjoy more than seeing border collies bounding across the fields on a sunny day. Beautiful.

Dunno, looks more like a spaniel or a setter than a collie. Either way they need a long walk every day.

Don’t bring her to Ashton pound. They’ll kill her in 5 days if she’s not claimed.

I’d highly recommend contacting Facebook page ‘Lors lost dogs’. Brilliant success in returning dogs to their rightful owners.

Raheny vets will also simply have her collected by a dog warden who will bring her to Ashton pound….

Never be the person responsible for a dog being brought to an Irish run dog pound.

Go visit Ashton pound and you’ll understand why.

Put notices with the dog’s pic up on lamp-posts in the area she was found. Also place them in local shops/restaurants etc.

Thanks for trying to return her to her home.

….. and sadly because she’s a black dog, statistically she’ll won’t be rescued from a pound either. Black dogs are statistically the largest group of dogs killed in pounds as nobody claims/rescues them. Put Notices up in the area and Lors lost dogs FB page ….

……. OBVIOUSLY HAVE HER CHECKED FOR A MICROCHIP AT A VET (But don’t hand the dog over to the vet…. if you can keep her temporarily until her owner is found, that’s better for her).

Well over 90% of dogs are either reclaimed or rehomed from Ashton. The ones that are put down are unsuitable for remohing because of temperament. Even some of what are considered dangerous breeds are sent abroad for rehoming. Admittedly the surroundings aren’t exactly salubrious but dog welfare is very important there.
