After an unsuccessful fishing trip some summers ago, I was told by one of those immigrant-hatin’ taxi drivers that it was the fault of the “effing foreigners coming over here, taking our fish”.
I had ridiculous visions of Japanese factory ships sailing up and down our rivers, turning our perch, trout and carp into canned fish flakes.
Those Japanese factory ships (and the rest) are too busy instead off our West shores. More East side fishing industries like in Clogherhead, are doing their best to survive under yet another government joining the EU in screwing up the allotted EU stock quotations with unfairness.
To be honest, given the regular mad traffic at times in my home town of Drogheda, it’s not the worst parking job I’ve seen!
I live in a town where standard parking consists of stopping wherever you want, whacking on the hazards and fecking off.
It has it’s charm, I suppose.
