June 15 will be the end of roaming charges in the EU.
Tom Moylan writes:
From that day, you can use phone (including data) when travelling in the EU & pay the same prices as you do at home.
Next time someone asks what the EU has done lately (apart from freedom to move and work, forming a trading powerhouse, ensuring consumer rights, reinforcing human rights, providing peace, creating a Europe-wide solidarity corps and allowing scientists share research and resources), you can include that.
FIGHT!

BUT, we can no longer import chipotle peppers so time to bring the whole thing down
Jackpot. That’s the day before I go on me holliers!
…wiil this apply in Gibraltar after brexit…
The UK is still a member state until they depart the EU, so it will apply to all of their territory until then!
5c a mb would still cost the average phone addict a fair bit.
You’ll be charged standard rates, same as home, from June (e.g. unlimited data contract? you get unlimited data everywhere in EU)
Not if you are with Three you won’t.
So does this mean we can shop for around for contracts anywhere in the EU?
I like your thinking! Surely they could not stop you from getting a prepaid SIM anywhere else in Europe. As for the contract, having a local address or even payment card might be enforceable.
Oh thats very interesting…
That’s one gripe with the EU – they still haven’t fully sorted out the ‘services’ part of ‘Free movement of goods and services”
“reinforcing human rights, providing peace, creating a Europe-wide solidarity corps”!! shome mishtake surely, Ed.
Have a look at the super fine details in your contracts, Three and i believe meteor have this already sown up, So if you have free data with them that doesnt apply when abroad. There will be charges.
