Wish they would name it by the distance and stop trying to shoehorn the word marathon into it.

    So I hear you ran a “10k”…

No it was a mini marathon actually.

Ah yes, of course it was. (sigh)

What’s the problem with the use of the word marathon here? Real question, btw.

      1. Yeah, Ok

A marathon is a specific distance event.
While it makes no difference in real terms, it can be irksome to people who actually run marathons.
It’s similar to me calling myself Doctor when I have a fetac level 5 First Aider cert.

Good answer. I did this FUN-RUN a few years back and that’s exactly what it is; enormous fun! Having folk talk about their ‘personal best’ seemed so inappropriate afterwards as we all did it for charity and camaraderie. I admire the really dedicated runners that train so fastidiously though – of course a ‘mini-marathon’ is part of that training….so kudos to all that enter ;)

    marathon is 26.2 miles.
A mini marathon is the old name for a fun size snickers!

    Costello: Well, then who’s running?

    Abbott: Yes.

Costello: I mean the person’s name that’s running this.

    Abbott: Who.

    Costello: The person running this.

    Abbott: Who.

    Costello: The person running this..

    Abbott: Who is running this.

Costello: Well, what are you askin’ me for?

Abbott: I’m not asking you–I’m telling you. Who is running this.

Costello: I’m asking you–who’s running this?

    Abbott: That’s the person’s name.

    Costello: That’s who’s name?

    Etc.
