The White Hag Is Three

The White Hag Brewery in Balllymote, County Sligo will host an international craft beer festival on the last weekend in July.

And you could join the Hagstravaganza!

Paul Mullin, of the White Hag, writes:

Having won the inaugural Oliver Hughes ‘Best Brewery in Ireland’ award from Beoir, the national craft beer organisation, our team at The White Hag have decided to host an innovative beer festival to celebrate.

The event is designed to celebrate our 3rd Birthday – and hopefully our 4th and subsequent birthdays!

We’re expecting a 1000 capacity crowd to attend the event, with 85% of guests expected to come from outside Sligo.

Beers not poured in Ireland’ is the theme for the event which will see over 60 beers from around the world available for the first time to Irish craft beer fans.

Our call to arms is simple – if you want to come, or know someone who would want to come (Fathers Day next week!) then buy your tickets and get your accommodation now, as rooms are tight and we want to ensure everyone who wants to come and stay over gets a spot.

All event details including accommodation lists and travel advice at link below. Tickets are €25 and include a Festival glass and 4 drinks, as well as a free train to Sligo.

And, as ever, we’d love to reward Broadsheet readers with a prize:

A pair of tickets to HAGSTRAVAGANZA, food and drinks on the day, and overnight accommodation in Sligo for two people!

Simply tell us the best reason why you should win in the comments (below)….

Lines stay open until MIDNIGHT Sunday.

Me and the pal bought a barrel between us and have left the wives at home. Mine’s giving me grief cuz its happening on our first wedding anniversay so if we can get them down for free maybe we’ll still have wives after the weekend

I’m routinely spending too much money buying your beers.

I’m a huge fan of your aged sours!

Fantastic beer but seriously, I’ll take this bullet lads, because how else will they find their estimated 850 people who want to go to Sligo!?

    With love,
A sour man who loves sour beer.

The best reason I can give is my girlfriend/my favourite beer is the pink puca and where both off that weekend, plus your Xmas day out got me into craft beer and homebrewing 2 years ago…… it’s all your fault

My local beer stockist has recently started stocking White Hag. I love the chocolate stout. Sadly won’t be home until August, but will look forward to updates.
    And photos of the event.

You should send Mildred and I to Sligo for a sly-go.
I’d keep her awake all night *

*shouting down jokes to her from the top bunk

Well you see it’s my friends 30th birthday and we are bringing him to Sligo without his knowledge and if we could set this up for him without his knowledge that would be epic

After realizing what a fool I’ve been for so many years supporting huge multi-national corporate conglomerate’s and their awful watered down blandness that we’ve has to put up with from almost every bar in Ireland.

I’ve only been drinking the crafty stuff for over a decade and would love to go to your festival. I’ve never been to one before and having it in Sligo sounds great too.

Either way, keep up the good work…

    Slainte…

“The White Hag” – worst name since “The Hairy Sister”, which is a place in Melbourne.

As the great Mrs Doyle would say: Go on go on go on go on… GO ON!

    Pretty please!

I’ll do a dance or something. Ok. 2 dances… and a slow set… and I’ll buy you a bag of chips

Because when my husband & I moved to Ireland from California, we left behind beautiful weather, beaches, Mexican food, and a huge amount of craft beer so that I could do my PhD in Galway. White Hag is one of our favourite craft brews here, and fill that void of all the beer we left behind!

I need to win this prize for my mate who is a craft beer nut and whose son I whacked in the face with a tennis ball at a kids party at the weekend. It left a massive bruise and I am mortified! This prize might go some way towards compensation for my horrendous act.
