Is it not not trending because not that many people are tweeting about it? And they think it’s strange cos they’ve overestimated the number of people they think are interested.

Plenty of people tweeting about it, over 6000 today when you enter the hashtag into talkwalker.com
Whereas #wheelconf17 is trending highly, but had 957 for the day.
Trends are based on who you follow too, which doesn’t explain the sport or 1-direction-based hashtags that I constantly see. Anyway, here’s how Twitter say they do it: https://support.twitter.com/articles/101125#

I’ve been following the hashtag all day. Volume of about 20 posts a minute .. if that says anything? I thought it was a bit much to expect it to be “trending”. I’d say it almost certainly will once the verdict is delivered but so what?

Do these people realise Mr John A. Twitter doesn’t sit at his desk every morning to read the Irish Times to find out what to “make trend” on his website, right?

It’s by volume of tweets. I’m not seeing an inordinate amount with it.

Well, I hate to break it to you … but there isn’t actually a “Mr. Twitter”. There are actually a number of people with executive status that wake up every morning and fulfil agendas particular to their function. It is in fact fairly plausible, in Ireland at any case, that an executive with a communications brief could in fact read the Irish Times every morning, along with a few other newspapers, along with some less publicly available information sources. It’s also perfectly plausible that twitter could manipulate what’s trending – they could have this capability baked into the system for any number of reasons, but given their revenue is chiefly from advertising that would be a “good enough” one. Twitter does not have a “social brief” – they can, and I’m sure they do, manipulate what is on their site “all the time”. They can also quite easily present a different at different locations very very easily. I’m not going to join these dots to satisfy any kind of conspiracy theory but to suggest that they couldn’t, or wouldn’t engage in subtle manipulation is preposterous.

Look at how Bodger frequently edits comments here to make them more fitting with the broadsheet narrative!

It is interesting indeed, that a senior exec once worked with the Gardaí though.

Untrue .. you deleted a string of comments I made because they didn’t agree with a particular hive mind .. no rude words included .. I expect the same of this

There’s not enough post volume; it has trended before, it likely will again.

There’d be damn good justification to not display some of the jury manipulative nonsense that has been spewing from Twitter/Facebook in the past few weeks, though.

Joan burton, in conjunction with the saucer people, under the supervision of the reverse vampires are forcing our People to go to bed early in a fiendish plot to eliminate the trending.

Just no way, he wouldn’t be able to do it himself , I doubt there is a feature to do so, and he couldnt trust a developer to not report him, and Id doubt a developer would risk their job , however I was following the hashtag and it was quite busy, but not busy enough ….

The media do seem a little uninterested lately, they didnt seem to report the most interesting comments in the closing statements, but its a tricky one , they dont want to be accused of influence , Im sure they will be all over it when the verdict arrives…

Seriously does Gemma O Doherty also think that the Gardai were behind the assassination of JFK, the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior and the downing of the Pan Am flight over Lockerbie? Absolute tripe.

Doesn’t Noel Whelan’s wife work there too?

At least we cannot blame Mark Little. For this one.

So this thread was meant for

the Justice for Jobstown lobby are saying they’re not Trending
is it because they’re not Trending cause they’re not the top news on twitter
or that Twitter have interferred with their Hashtag formulas and algorithms

    it drifted out to
Bodger wanting more nice talk and less “unparlimentary talk” on BS
or that he works for Twitter
or that he cuts and edits BS to taste
(and now I’m pretty much proof that thats not entirely the case)

or that another lad in Twitter is an ex Garda HQ lad
    and maybe Bodger is too

and who does Noel Whelahan missus work for
    Twitter, Gaurds, Bodge, Mark Little

    its like a £ shop
    tis all going on here
