The average salary for the workforce of 3,800 staff now stands at €54,647.
    “Standard of living pay increase”…

‘There are peasants on 54k a year? This is an outrage!’ is, let’s be honest, what you meant here.

        1. Paps

Comparing the average salary with that of a nurse, midwife, fireman or member of AGS.. they are doing quite well .

          1. realPolithicks

Lets assume that those numbers are correct, does that mean they should never receive a pay increase?

          2. Paps

The action was announced after the unions rejected the rail company’s pay offer. Irish Rail officials said they offered rises of 1.75pc for one year. This was to be facilitated by measures including performance management, absenteeism management, revisions to redeployment policy and payroll. However, unions are seeking a 3.75pc increase.

          3. realPolithicks

The rail workers feel that 1.75% is too low and are looking for more. That’s generally how negotiations go.

You’re getting good. That was almost exactly what I meant. Apart from the peasants and outrage part. Keep hitting those books and you’ll be up to speed in no time.

and yeh, exactly Paps. Compared to other areas, they are indeed doing pretty well.

A monkey would learn to drive a train, a tram, a dart or a bus. ( low skilled jobs) €54£ FFS. Extortion.

I love the way people think all you have to do to drive a train or tram is push a lever. If it’s so easy and so lucrative, why aren’t you all drivers for Iarnrod Eireann?

          1. Rowsdower

Daisy is saying because you dont support the unions wage increases you must be low skilled.

They do this every time one of these unions starts demanding money and causing disruptions, they insult everyone that doesnt agree.

because [relatively well-paid] train drivers are causing chaos. Some low-paid workers can’t get into work and will be docked pay.
