The Capuchin Day Centre for homeless people is currently handing out over 2,500 Christmas Hampers this morning.

There are at least 19 items in each hamper, including groceries and meat. Volunteers at the centre have been handing out tickets for the hampers to guarantee enough will be packed when those in need turn up .

And like every year people who dont need them will go down because they’re too miserable too spend money.

You’d imagine that’s a tiny percentage, it must be very humbling and possibly even demeaning collecting a food parcel, I hope I never have to suffer the indignity.

My father would never pass someone on the street without giving something. One time I was in town with a friend and his father and his father passed someone begging and told us that most of them were chancers and that he would never give them anything. A bit later when I was in town with my own father I told him this, what my friend’s father has said about them all being chancers. He said “maybe they are and maybe they arent but if they are out here in the cold, sitting on the ground with their hand out, they need it more than me. Thats all I know”.

It is I know,I also live close enough to there and give them in stuff every year. But iv had first had experience of miserable fupps coming in getting the hamper and then running up to the Vincent for another. These are people who don’t need it, its past annoying but we cant say no to them.

it has boo boo all to do with christianity, kid. it’s humanity and decency, that’s all. if it was christianity, they’d be looking for something in return.

Happy Christmas in any case. Happy Christmas to all.

See! Pro-life people DO care about those after they’re born

    And your catlike ways
    I can hold you
    You are a fool”
