Roundabouts with slip roads look like the best value for money.
I think it will depend on how much traffic there is. As in, how much traffic is flowing in each of the 4 directions? And what percentage of traffic of traffic in each directing wants to continue straight, turn left, or turn right.
I would say that there are no (very few?) intersections where there is the same flow in all 4 directions, and that each flow sends 33.3% left; 33.3% right, and 33.3% straight.

Anybody else see the cars go under each other at the crossroads? That can’t be right.
I’d guess that the software simulates each vehicle as a point, and from that builds it’s movement. Then it randomly assigns different vehicle shape/sizes onto the point – so you get the running over each other effect.
I noticed that too. Also police cars turn up at certain points too.
