We punch way above our weight when it comes to music and the country is awash with talent but no doubt it will be the usual bland drivel no matter who they pick.

Oh and who is ‘they’ btw? I mean who actually decides? Name and shame please.

it’s a sham. Countries vote for English-language songs of the neighbours that they either like or are afraid of (cough…Russia..cough..cough).

The only reason we won so much[1] in the past was (a) our songs were in English, (b) everyone liked us and (c) Russia wasn’t in it.

      [1] my personal view.

well I’d have to row in behind Wogan’s opinion on why we did so well there for a bit

        The Irish didn’t invade anyone

Ryan was very good on the X-Factor a few years ago, singing his own song, ‘No Name’. Good luck to him, he has a lovely voice.

Yes he has but his material is well, dull. Let’s hope this song has something memorable in it.

*sigh* You do no Russia have one ONCE in 20 years don’t you? It’s sad Ireland decided to give up after Jedward and blame political voting while countries like Portugal who have never won can come along and win.

I agree with your second point- most of the Irish songs that won were pretty crap and not well regarded in the Eurovision fan community- there seems to be a special hatred for Why Me? and The Voice.

I watched Linda Martin on da telly recently saying that we need a ballad for Eurovision. No love, we need to get rid of leeches like you and that bum sore called Louis Walsh.

Winning is secondary. Showcasing Irish talent is the goal.
