As well as protesting OUTSIDE Powerstown Park racecourse, where the “festival” of hare coursing was held, some of us protested INSIDE the venue…

Why isn’t this barbarity banned already? Disgraceful. No doubt we’ll get some bullsh|te about rural Ireland again. Just like when the hunt dogs got killed by cars because they were running wild all over the countryside I suppose. ‘It never normally happens’. Yeah right.

Oh and Bodger your link to John Fitzgerald is incorrect. https://twitter.com/badharedays?lang=en

I was brought up going to coursing meetings. While its difficult to defend, the dogs are muzzled these days so, unlike fox hunting (where the object is to hunt and kill, rather than to race dogs) hares don’t get killed even if there are traumatised. In coursing meetings I went to in the pre-muzzle days, it was rare enough to see a dog catch a hare. Just to be clear, I’m not condoning it, just relating personal experiences. I doubt too many on here have been to a coursing meeting.

Well, I’ve never been to a cock fight, either, but I would still want them banned if they were taking place in Tipp.

Hunt dogs getting killed by cars is a form of karma considering the pain those hounds inflict on hares and foxes.

The karma would be yer man in the stupid red jacket with the childish little trumpet being thrown off his horse.

While I abhor bloodsports of any kind. This numbers at this protest lends itself to a “careful now/down with this sort of thing” feel about it.
