Live Disclosures

From left: barrister Michael McDowell, Sgt Mauric McCabe, Lorraine McCabe and solicitor Sean Costello arrive at Dublin Castle this morning.

The Disclosures Tribunal is resuming in Dublin Castle this afternoon.

Garda whistleblower Sgt Maurice McCabe has continued to answer questions about the alleged smear against him by senior ranks of An Garda Síochána.

Olga Cronin (you may know her from the telly!) is live tweeting from Dublin Castle on on the Broadsheet feed here.

Hello you.

RTÉ Crime Correspondent Paul Reynold attends the Disclosures Tribunal where he heard Sgt McCabe outline claims of bias against Mr Reynolds during his reporting for the station on the outcome of the O’Higgins Commission.

More to follow.

I didn’t realise Martin Callinan had orchastrated the smear campaign, carried on by his predecessor O’Sullivan, to the extent he did.

I mean of course it was orchastrated..but it was so overt. We’re hardly meant to believe files with an allegation of rape ended up in Tulsa by mistake, considering the whispering Martin Callinan was doing to TDs in carparks.

What a disgusting cretin. It’s criminal behaviour. Rotten, corrupt & disgusting. The ability and the responsibility given to someone in that position & they making up the most disgusting rumours about a man, all conveniently backed up by inaccurate Tulsa files, it’s really shocking stuff.

What repercussions has Callinan had to face? Besides retiring with a big pension? Disgusting, insecure cretin who went out of his way to destroy a man because he had the audacity to report some poor procedures.

What kind of a corrupt little poo hole do we have that there is no oversight, that some insecure commissioner can decide he’s going to destroy a man with the worst allegations a man could face?

We have reports of a paedophile ring in Co.Limerick at the moment & it’s shocking to believe…and this is the sort of abuse Callinan decided to concoct about a garda in his ranks, over some complaints he didn’t like? Rotten b*stard is what he is. And O’Sullivan isn’t far behind him.

The Department of Finance mandarin who fell asleep at the wheel during the run-up to 2008 And All That was rewarded with a big ass pension and a sinecure in Europe. I wouldn’t hold my breath, andyetc.

Well said Anne. Callinan and O’Sullivan should be prosecuted for this and many other things…I won’t hold my breath.

Callinan’s ‘I think it’s disgusting’ remark now has a whole new ring to it.
To those who were in the loop, it had a particular meaning.

Someone needs to make a movie about this. Out him, and the mechanisms of our government that allowed his behaviour to go not only unpunished but in fact rewarded, to the world. Maybe some justice to be had that way as Maurice is unlikely to get it any other way.

Callinan should be prosecuted for this. If this isn’t incitement to hatred, I don’t know what is. I hope a file is winding its way to the DPP. Utter guttersnipe.

The next action should be arrest for those involved charge then trial for corruption
Jail and pension stripped but this will never happen
But we will all see this go the way all tribunals go
A very expensive cleansing exercise to ensure those involved escape criminal charges
The report will do exactly that like the various ones in the past
Millions will be spent on this with no result
