Volunteers Margaret Beere (left) and Nuala Gillick (right) are among thousands of volunteers around Ireland today selling daffodil pins and flowers on streets, in businesses, homes and shopping centres to raise funds for the irish Cancer Society’s free, nationwide care services for those with, and affected by, cancer in Ireland.

Well done, good cause. I buy a pin every year and usually just stick it in the desk drawer at the office. I have about 12 of them now from over the years. I think today could be the day that I’ll put them all on and walk around like a 4 star general.

I can’t wait ’til they put the daffodil head dresses on wider sale: embrace your inner Pern or Gabriel!

I give back to the ICS exactly what they gave to my mother when she was dying from lung cancer.

Nothing. Not even someone to talk to, she was ushered off the phone when she rang looking for some supports – supports she was willing to pay for I might add. She got the supports she need from ARC, a proper cancer charity.

Another charity scam is all the ICS are.

      Well said.
I live with cancer. There are practical supports out there. The Irish cancer society is not one of them.

Well said the millions raised will be spent o massive salaries for the elite running it
And meanwhile all those unpaid volunteers
Time these obscene salaries were stopped
That is why I never donate to these industries

I managed to not only get a pin, but a shopping trolley keyring – hurrah!

I stumbled across a meedja photoshoot for it in the Iveagh Gardens and they were selling at that.
