don’t post it here, send it to fingal cc – all rental property requires planning permission. i can’t see a smoke detector, fire extinguisher, CM alarm…

If the landlord/lady own the television then they are responsible for ensuring the license is paid.

        1. Brother Barnabas

          no, sir

“Any person in occupancy at an address where a television set is held is legally responsible for the licensing of the television set regardless of ownership of either the premises or the set itself”

if a structure is built with the intention of it being a dwelling, then it needs planning permission.

I suppose the Wright Venue could be viewed by some as the Garden of Eden.

behind the wright venue gym there is a a few house left over from when it was all country.
It’s actually lovely and quiet there…you wouldn’t know you were beside all that.

I’m tired of not calling this out.
    One word comes to mind.
    Notions!

What is wrong with that property for a single person?
    It looks nice to me.

Just took a look on Daft. The next cheapest place to rent in Swords for a single person is 1250 a month.
BTW i’m not a landlord but why make people feel inadiquite for wanting to live in a perfectly fine place to live? the other option may be homelessness.
Broadsheet you are 100% wrong here.
If its not a kip then why should it be included in “letting shame of 2018”

We used to have low standards for renting litle enforcement and a lot of hovels for rent.
That changed over the last 15 years. Now we have very high minimum standards. Unfortunately we still have little enforcement and there are still lots of slums. ( I’m not saying this example a above is a slum).

We need loser standards but for them to be enforced consistantly. With big fines for landlords that break them. And mandatory reinspectuons on those landlords that have priors.

Yes we do like 76 in a five bed house packed in like sardines

I have not made my mind up yet but
We do read the papers and know about the new slum landlords and the greedy that jack up rents
Your government has done nothing but inflate property

Apparently a little bird told me its deep underground in the Russian embassy in rathgar, and that’s why little Leo verruca expelled that dreaded Ruskie.

A structure like that would not meet planning guidelines, therefore it’s an illegal rental. but then, so are plenty of other rentals nationally:

          HOUSING

Nearly 50% of rented properties in Kildare didn’t meet standards
New figures from the National Oversight Audit Commission show that just under half of the private rented houses in Kildare in 2016 did not comply with the housing standards required. Kildare County Council inspected 378 of the county’s 12,062 properties and found that 49.7% did not comply with regulations, while Fingal, which had 20,438 registered tenancies, inspected 321 of them and found 65% did not comply. Inspected properties in Carlow performed worst, with 8.4% of the county’s properties inspected, with 98% of those determined to be non-compliant.

I think it’s an attempt to highlight how bad things are.
Maybe if we continue to do so, the government will take action. I’m not holding my breath.

Because it’s 765 euro a month and actually a glorified garden shed located on a backroad outside of Swords.

Co Dublin and Dublin is really beginning to become a Bombay
I see in years to come like Rio, Bombay, Bangkok, Mexico city, these cardboard shanty towns to house the low paid ,as affordable housing will be starting at quarter of a million going up to half a million and the average industrial wage will never be enough to afford the repayments, so solution slums
Get ready for Leo’s vision of Ireland where the rich get tax reductions and the poor despised and classed as losers and Untouchables.

Our country deserves better than this.

    1. SOQ

Problem is, it is not just the low paid who can’t afford to rent in Dublin anymore, middle income earners can’t either.

Nobody has yet to come up with a rational explanation as to what is going on. Do we really have so many new renters in the market? Or is it that the amount of units are being reduced? If so, why?

      1. George

The population in Dublin increased by 5.8% in the five years between 2011 and 2016. That is 62,552 people. There was very little building during this time. It has probably increased at a slightly higher rate since the 2016 census. There is no mystery.

        1. david

          That explains it
          Now. What about the reason?
Was it no building to ensure little supply so rents rise?
If so was it deliberate policy to ensure our new absent landlords get a great return on investment adding to the zero capital gains tax on the vast profits from distressed property sales?
By the way the 200 billion plus distressed property sold to these funds was not taken off our national debt so lets see
          Where has the money gone?

Another crash is going to happen and be warned.
Big problem will be when those who bought start looking for help when they no longer can pay their mortgagees.
Will they be expecting tax payers to bear the cost again so they can hang on to their homes?
Yes they will including all that are the I am ok jack screw the rest
Will the I am backing brave evict them?
    Yes they will
So remember we are all one step away from homelessness

To me this is a glorified shed and those who see nothing wrong with it I bet would never have to make the decision to live there. This is just another example of greedy landlords preying on vulnerable renters in a mad rental market. I wonder if there is any insulation or would you freeze to death in the winter. This might not be illegal but in my opinion it is immoral.
