the assad government is responsible for all the many chemical attacks, but unless any attack on assad disables his chemical production, it would be pointless, as the civil war there is too far gone now in his favor. so the Morning Star is again correct, in the matter of an external attack. you, thpugh, have been brainwashed as to the source of the chemical attacks, or are deliberately lying, because your politics are triangulating and nationalist. this is what happens when you have no class understanding.

Nothing proven yet and until an impartial team go in that is approved by the Russians ,its all accusations.
Remember Saddam and weapons of mass destruction and what started the Arab spring.
These groups Assad is fighting include ISIS that have no qualms about murder in the most horrendous way.
If the west goes in then PESCO will be the force used by Europe
We are members of that and their actions will not allow us to sit on the fence screaming war criminal like we do as Israel deals with Hamas
In fact we are not under threat on our borders from any Arab group like Israel
As part of PESCO we most probably have to provide combat troops and it will be our duty to do so

“the assad government is responsible for all the many chemical attacks”

Can you prove that? Because better equipped agencies than you have tried and failed.

‘Ireland wins German support over soft border’
Eh? I thought we had the backing of the EU. So Liar Boy has to do a tour of EU countries to ‘win’ support?
And what kind of competition was it that we ‘win’ support?

    1. david

But has Ireland Latvia’s support or even Italy’s support
Will they be contributing to our losses? No
Meanwhile the war mongering hot’s up regarding Syria ,and no doubt an European army or PESCO will be finally utilized in the bombing and military action regarding Syria, and finally Ireland will be involved directly in the killing involved as being members of that organisation.

        1. david

Yep birth especially the photos of the towns in Syria
          Google Getty images
All the visions of a gentleman’s war that is what is Arial bombing and missiles from military behaving in the remit of a well fought war as prescribed by western governments
The little kids really gear’s me up for a dose of PESCO on my Toast

    2. ReproBertie (SCU)

That’s a very misleading headline. Germany didn’t recently decide to support Ireland on the soft border. The foreign minister said yesterday that Ireland’s insistence that the Sasamach treaty includes a backstop to preserve the island’s open border enjoys the full support of Germany. This is not a new position, just a public restating of it before he goes to meet Boris Johnson.

And as they are doing this make it impossible to bring a compromise that benefits all
        Its classic Reich tactics
The gleivitz incident was the classic used to justify the invasion of Poland
        Read up about it
The Indians had a perfect term to describe Germany
White man talk with fork tongue

          1. david

Not so good at reading are you
I said the Indians had a perfect term to describe Germany not used a term
            Two different meanings
You of course cannot resist your bigoted fiscal space to read what you read
The term was originally used to describe white men who were the immigrants who colonised what is America ,which included English ,Scottish welsh ,Irish ,French ,Germans, Spanish etc

The absolute scariest part is that I think you actually believe yourself. For a 64 year old man, you’re an awful child.

        1. ReproBertie

A compromise that benefits all is the UK staying within the customs union. Given how terribly Sasamach is going for them the solution that benefits them most would be copping on and giving up the entire Sasamach nonsense.

Gender can’t be determined until well after the 12 weeks but putting that aside for a moment, women in Ireland have abortions. Some women in Ireland are forced to travel for abortions as they can’t have them legally here. The 8th does not prevent abortion. Removing the 8th just means women having abortions in Ireland will be safer doing so.

          1. SOQ

Noticable how many anti choice zealots that are popping up on this site of late. No doubt they will disappear after the referendum.

          2. ReproBertie (SCU)

It’s completely understandable given the issue and how close the vote will probably be. There’s room for movement between the soft yes, don’t know and soft no. I had my mind changed about the Seanad referendum through comments here.

          3. SOQ

Yup well I’m no spring chicken myself but there certainly is a generational difference apparent. What I find quite disingenuous is when these characters use 3-4 accounts to make their opinions appear more popular than they actually are.

But such is the fanaticism, mainly from people way over reproductive age and mainly from men who would never have been in the position in the first place.

          4. Frill the 8th

I think all those oul’ fellas are cruising around on the Referendum topics trends and threads ’cause its all about women’s bits
            down there

            and ya know
            Poor divils

and they have a safe excuse to go searching for more stuff about women’s bits

          5. mildred st. meadowlark

It’s the contents of our bits they seem concerned with…

Which is downright creepy. No one, and I do mean no one, has the right to know what I’ve got down there. Doesn’t matter if it’s a foetus that may one day become the next Mozart if it’s simply a few dustballs, it’s absolutely none of their business.

          6. Sentient Won

How do you make a baby without a man Mildred?

            Magic is it?

            The Stork?

            Find them under the cabbage?

          7. SOQ

            @ Sentient Won.

By your standards I’ve made babies may times except, I don’t have a womb.

Love the whole oops we have f? Up in banning cars from cork city centre by suddenly introducing a free bus shuttle announcement
    Not good enough
These pen pushers are going to suck the life blood out of cork city centre
I suppose its time traders showed their power and go on a rates strike and showed them who pays their wages.

Forgive me if I’ve gotten the wrong end of the stick here but I thought they had just stopped private vehicles going up Patrick St for a few hours in the afternoon?

          1. jusayinlike

+1 neilo, I welcome David, I disagree with him on issues but we need differing opinions and once he’s not calling to arms where’s the harm, for all my calling out of Israel to David’s credit he’s never once labelled me an anti semite and I appreciate that..

perhaps Ciaran Cannon can explain why the irish state continues to fund Carmel and Les Buckley’s Haven, last year the state spent over 200,000 of your money on it.

while the state gives it over 200,000 of your hard earned cash, its completely reliant on the generosity and goodwill off…..

“Haven, an Irish charity that works exclusively in Haiti, relied on donations from Denis O’Brien companies and its founder Leslie Buckley for over half its income in 2015.

Haven’s annual returns show that donations from entities connected to O’Brien rose to an all-time high as a proportion of the charity’s annual income in 2015, with 53% (€712,666) of its €1.32m funds received from those sources.

This was a big leap, up from 19% in 2014, and is the highest proportion of Haven’s income to come from companies or people connected to the billionaire businessman since the charity’s foundation. ”
    The Times.

it has quite the ambassador in George Hook !

c’mon Ciaran cut the state cash off, there is a precedent on front page IT,who’s afraid of….

Bloomberg just had piece ” Billionaire O’Brien Risks Investor Ire After Debt Yields Surge” no risks of any Irish Political like say Ciaran Cannon having any Ire !

Must read for DOB watchers h/t Namawinelake (NWL),

      yikes !

“The so-called “non-deal roadshow” comes after the 2020 yield rose as high as 15.4 percent from 8.5 percent — making it the worst emerging markets performer this year.”

Coveney says intervention in Syria not the answer but simple Simon you like little Leo verruca signed us up to PESCO
And Europe decides what PESCO gets involved in
Its too late to sit on the fence crying foul
Now we must take responsibility for our part of any killings and collateral damage when PESCO is called on

    1. ReproBertie

EU member states, and that includes Ireland thankfully, are free to opt in or out of PESCO projects as they see fit.

As you’re so fond of saying yourself, read up about it.

      1. david

Opting out from getting your hands dirty is more like it
Ireland signed up for this and signing to the club also taints you with what the club dose
So when the little babies are killed Ireland must share the blame or get out of the club if not you are just the worst type of hypocrite

        1. ReproBertie (SCU)

I disagree. I do not believe that we can be blamed for actions we had nothing to do with. Ireland regularly takes part in UN peace keeping missions meaning you’d hold us responsible for the abuse of children in Haiti by troops from Burundi and Gabon.

Let’s not forget that these PESCO actions are entirely in your head. The EU has said it does not condone military action in Syria and will be meeting on Monday to discuss fresh sanctions, for all they’re worth. Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have already ruled out participating in any military action.

          1. david

PESCO was a proposition with the Lisbon treaty
            Declan Ganley pointed this out
We were told then Irish neutrality was safe then along comes PESCO but just before PESCO was formed we heard about Europe belief a European army should replace NATO as Europe defence
            Now varadka signed us up
The army will happen and our politicians will comply
They have ruled out joint with the US and UK
They will get involved down the road as sure as night follows day
They just have to sell it to us

The Nazis got veruccas in their socks cos of Hamas and god be praised that a hospital trolley could have saved the poor jews all through history and politicians be down in west cork with my dead grandfather god rest his soul, the bastard and I’m allowed say my peace.

      1. Cian

if you put in some random spaces you have poetry:

The Nazis got veruccas in their socks
cos of Hamas and god be praised
        that a hospital trolley could
have saved the poor jews all
        through history and politicians be
down in west cork with my dead
        grandfather god rest his soul,
        the bastard
and I’m allowed say my peace.

Remove punctuation, point and sense, mash the enter button every few seconds- we have it!
You, sir, are a genius! (apologies if you’re a lady, then you’re a geniess)

      2. david

For one going on about spelling and grammar you really are a moon
        Peace dose not mean piece
I assume when you are allowed to say your piece you mean price
But if you want peace you declare peace
        And cos is not because
Do you mean lettuce or are you just a vegetable from the neck up and you forgot Nazi’s have that little’ between I&s
