looks like Cora Shercock is out of the big debate tonite…probable groin injury she picked up in training

    I’ll get my coat

    1. Martin

We must respect Cora’s choice, we can’t force her to be on RTE against her wishes.

Her choice to opt out of the debate should be respected…i think she’d agree that her choice should be respected as well.

      It’s all about her choice.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

She shouldn’t have been allowed to abort her appearance and should have been forced to carry it to term.

          1. Brother Barnabas

can you find it within yourself to love both her initial commitment to appear and her subsequent non-appearance?

      1. Scoops yeah?

When one of the mad ‘no’ preachers on Henry st was told by someone in the crowd to stop recording and put his phone away his response was ‘my phone my choice’

  2. Starina

very fatigued-looking Yes canvasser at a luas stop this evening, i gave her thumbs up and a big smile. almost there.

  3. Janet, I ate my Avatar

I’ll be doing my own Yes stall tomorrow afternoon
    come say hi in Malahide
    every little helps

    1. Janet, I ate my Avatar

well mine actually jumping the ride of a true activist…I’m just home :)

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

Make sure you’re not on your own. There’s too many reports of antis getting agressive towards Yes campaigners.

I saw some of the No youths at the top of Grafton Street the other day and they reminded me of the saps in college whose social life centered around a folk mass. They look wholesome enough but would scratch your eyes out.

+ ran a bar in the red light district alone to late hours without a bouncer and just a smile

Primetime: Simon Harris is dancing rings around Peadar Toibin who in turn is sidestepping more questions than answering.

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

      But but but Baybeees!!!

Toibin is getting rattled by having his own stance thrown back at him.

        1. Repro-choice Bertie

He was surprisingly good. No doubt Newsjustin will be delighted to have seen the debate he was looking for.

          1. Scoops yeah?

Haely-Rae on tv3 is fupn comical. Not a clue. He’s like a lad hasn’t his homework done but decides to wing it anyway.

        2. rotide

Hold on, I thought Simon Harris was LITERALLY the devil because he wouldn’t make an exception on the cannabis laws?

          1. Cian

Do you mean that time that no doctor could be found that would agree that cannabis was a valid treatment?

Having watched the Be Our Yes video I would like to make an appeal to paul/david/johng/bestwit who “affectionately” refers to me as Yank to vote YES on my behalf in Fridays referendum. Oh yeah and can everyone else also vote YES, please and thanks.

    1. rotide

Wait, I thought support coming from other countries was a sign of the devil?

Or is it only when it’s supporting the side we dont like?

      1. Nigel

Two references to the devil rotide are you getting
        EXORCISED about it?

          1. Nigel

            A LONG POINTY TAIL
            LIKE A DEVIL’S

    2. Paul

I called you a yank. There are three Pauls afaik. Any predictions on what percentage of votes you think each side will have when everything is tallied up Saturday?

          1. Nigel

I’ll just pop some champagne to celebrate.
            Or as we call it.
            Wait for it.

        1. SOQ

The higher it is the better as it gives TD’s more confidence to vote through the legislation which has been proposed.

      1. rotide

It’s going to be close, maybe not brexit close but I’m willing to bet something in the region of 52/53% yes

    3. Papi

I believe there has been a serious powerhose of the comments last night, we may have to wait for david et al to make up a new name.

      1. The Old Boy

        I believe so.

That odious Paul (pace, other Pauls) had a most juvenile and objectionable style: he made his points in an aggressive and nasty way and, when he wasn’t engaged in a polite and measured manner in return, accused everyone of ad hominem attacks and held this up as some sort of “proof” that his points were unanswerable.

It’s entirely deliberate, of course; a particularly poor rhetorical tactic, like a bar-room drunk who roars into someone else’s discussion and then declares himself the winner of the argument when he’s told to sling his hook.

By way of contrast, our most regular resident pro-life commenter, Newsjustin, generally makes his points in a polite and intelligent way and in return usually gets considered, if often forthright responses.

          1. Brother Barnabas

            here now, kiddo

you can say almost whatever you like here to almost whoever you like, but you can’t call the Old Boy a poo-poo head. that just makes you a poo-poo head.

      2. mildred st. meadowlark

I think we can conclusively say that yesterday was an unmitigated disaster.

None of the threads make sense because everyone was too busy shouting at everyone else.

        Can we do it again?
