GDPR at work. If it can be demonstrated that your data was accessed then you’re automatically entitled to compensation. Sizable compensation at that.

All data breaches must be reported but, does that also mean alerting the people whose details may have been compromised?

If so, that in itself is a huge incentive to clear out old stuff.

This could be quite an incentive to pull IT services back in house because providers would have to follow it to the letter, otherwise they would be playing with very high stakes.

In case of a breach the offending company are fined and the money goes into the exchequer. Not sure the person or persons whose data was compromised gets a sniff. Isn’t it good to know our data is protected ,from us.

The cynic in me is thinking this is a y2k ver 2 as nobody will be prosecuted if they can prove they are trying. And yet; I have been approached by two upgrade salesmen shouting the end is (invoiced) nigh in the last three days.

Maybe government could provide some clarification rather than sitting on their legal hands and allowing an obvious scam to occur. Just recommend independent advisers who don’t cost the earth please?

Send Ticketmaster a bill for your time getting in contact with your card issuer, and the inconvenience of not having a card for a number of days while waiting for a replacement. Call it a reverse booking fee or whatever.
