Athletics Ireland reports:

Sarah Healy (Blackrock) [aged 17] affirmed her status as the middle distance queen of the European U18 Athletics Championships with a dominant win in the girls’ 1500m final in a new championship record of 4:18.71 in Gyor, Hungary [yesterday evening].

Healy blitzed the field on Friday to win the girls’ 3,000m final in 9:18.05 which was also a championship record. So that made it two golds and two championship records on the bounce leaving no one in any doubt of the star quality on show.

…The Irish team won four medals in total to finish an excellent 7th on the medals table with Rhasidat Adeleke (Tallaght) [aged 15] winning 200m gold in 23.5 and Sophie O’Sullivan (Ballymore Cobh) [aged 16] winning silver in the girls’ 800m in 2:06.05.

…The Irish team will arrive [at Dublin Airport today] at 18:40 from Vienna to terminal 2 on Aer Lingus flight 665.

Why would the actions of the IOC against her mother affect her nationality?

Sorry to interrupt your self flagellation

Here’s hoping they get to Tokyo 2020. And it’s great to see Ireland picking up medals the sprints as well as the more traditional middle distances.

Also, you’re now on my List because of that. I’d been doing so well.

Vile. Can he, or you, run as well as Sarah? Why do something like that? It’s as pathetic as waving to your family from the Late Late Show audience stack…
