75 reports weekly re. hosepipe Bans? We truly are a nation of horrible gobshites. :-(

who are we to stop him
I won’t be grassing on him anyway

It does seem so. But how do Irish Water validate that the reporting of someone are justified? Are aul wans flying drones over their neighbours back garden at midnight or something and providing real-time footage? Are aul lads taking videos on mobile phones of would-be Diarmuid Gavins with suspicious damp patches on their pants?

It all sounds petty, ineffectual and a licence for retired pensioner neighbourhood scoresettling, although there are clearly tiresome gardening abusers out there who need a “conversation”. But they don’t deserve to be reported, they need to be shamed on social media with a hashtag and an image. But we have seen no such thing going viral yet. Makes me think there are no reports…

The last thing we need is water hosepipe vigilantes – Cumann Na Hosepipe mBan, etc.

“Prince’s regret over support for abuser bishop”

He also had regrets over his deep friendship with Jimmy Savile, obviously his frequenting with child molesters isn’t a pattern just an inconvenient coincidence..

          1. Ollie Cromwell

You mean it’s only primarily white men who abuse children ?
            Poor Quentin,so woke he’s asleep.

            “so woke he’s asleep”

This coming from the silly who thought Savile cheerleader Margaret Thatcher was a great statesman..

Go on give us a laugh again charger.. tell us all a Thatcher story.. how about the one where her son “Sir” Mark who got caught trying to force a coup d tat in Equatorial Guinea.. him and his MI5 mates got caught and ended up in jail.. the red faced UK had to pretend they didn’t know anything about it and cut the lads loose.. is that your idea of a statesman family is it??

Or how about the sale of Leyland to the ze Germans who promptly made billions from the mini, give us a laugh there go on..

          3. Ollie Cromwell

By jove,I appear to have touched a raw nerve.
Rebuffed by a fair English maiden I’d vouchsafe.
Besides, calling Lady Thatcher a statesman is very unwoke – the sisters will be reporting you to old sourface Una Mullally for a serious dressing down mark my words.
            You rascal.

          4. Ting-Tong

Only if you learn how to use punctuation.
I know it’s bothersome for the snowflake generation but I’m a bit of a stickler for that sort of thing.
Otherwise one comes across as a bit of a fopdoodle.

          6. Ting-Tong

            olliie has one forsaken me

            stop the lights

          7. Ting-Tong

Ollie, you’re on the naughty step, I shall request your swift release and relinquish my punctuation protest, temporarily, in your honour.

Beautiful creature, Bodger, I hereby request the removal of my sweet, yet cunning, nemesis, Oliver Cromwell, from the naughty step, in order for him to fulfill his pledge to me.

            Thank you, your grace.

          8. Ollie Cromwell

I’m always on the naughty step.
Anyone who expresses an opinion a couple of centimetres away from the braying soccer chants or should that be sycophants of the ” cutting edge ” BS gets their posts ” curated .”
I don’t swear and I’m not racist or sexist.
But I like to challenge the clichéd notions about Blighty, the Brits and the age-old notions about the relationship between two neighbouring countries.
For all its intentions to be slightly edgy Broadsheet is really quite old-fashioned.
            Like Ireland’s Call.
            And it’s very sweet.
I’m very fond of the beardy hipsters trying their best.

          9. mildred st meadowlark

My beard is very impressive, I’ll have you know.

I’m an awful food hipster. It’s my weakness.

          10. Nigel

Other people having opinions turned Ollie into an obnoxious racist propagandist. What a sad story.

    1. mildred st meadowlark

So because he has associated with a shower of pedos that automatically makes him one?

Based on what? Because that’s a pretty nasty thing to imply with eff all evidence.

      1. jusayinlike

        @ Mildred..

Do you think it’s appropriate for a monarch/incumbent King to fraternise with paedophiles?

What should I infer when an incumbent King prefers the company of vile paedophiles?

        1. mildred st meadowlark

I certainly don’t think it’s fair to infer that a man is a paedophile because he happens to have associated with them. The queen associated with Saville too, and I highly doubt she’s a kiddy fiddler. I may well unknowingly have associated with one, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I am one.

It’s a massive leap on your part and unless you have some form of proof.

I just think that making that kind of insinuation based on crap you’ve read in the paper or internet is really pretty stupid.

          1. jusayinlike

            @ Mildred..

Comparing a citizen to a monarch is a bad example, we don’t have security services vetting our company prior to meetings.

There were credible reports of Savile and that bishop for many many years, we’re these simply ignored? we’re they not credible back than but somehow today?

Charles wrote heartfelt messages on behalf of both Savile and the bishop, are we to believe he wasn’t even informed of they’re transgressions before publicly vouching for them?

Taking this into account it’s not a huge jump for him to be either directly involved or indirectly involved through ignorance.

          2. mildred st meadowlark

It’s one thing to imply he’s somehow involved through ignorance, that I could believe, and he wouldn’t be the first if it were the case. Plenty of people were happy to overlook rumours about Saville and Weinstein because they had power.

I know next to nothing about the British royals, really. But I think it’s a pretty unfair thing to do, casting aspersions on someone’s character based on what? People he associated with? People he vouched for? Vouching for men such as them was unwise certainly, especially considering his public role, it’s not a crime.

I’m absolutely not trying to defend any paedophiles but I do think those kinds of unfounded implications is an unjust thing to do. It may not be the best example, but look at Maurice McCabe. His life was destroyed by rumours that were entirely false.
