Camping at the All Together Now Festival, Curraghmore Estate, County Waterford this weekend

Janine writes:

So we are going to the All Together Now festival in Waterford this weekend in a camper van. I heard today that we are not allowed use the gas cooker or fridge because according to the moderator on the facebook page:

No gas cylinders are allowed on site . Any gas will be confiscated on entry” and that we will have to disconnect and remove cylinders before arrival at the festival

This kind of defeats the purpose having paid an extra €60 for a camper van ticket.

Seeing as all campervans fridges and stoves run off gas I am wondering how they are planning on enforcing this – practically every camper will have a cylinder, It seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Has anyone ever heard of this at any other festival?

Anyone?

    – you’re doing festivals wrong

God, that logo is annoying. Looks like AIN to me. Then the random dots.
I won’t go for that reason.

As a tent camper at many festivals, lemme tell ya I would be only delighted to sleep in a camper van at one, gas or no gas.

@Starina – Well – I have been a tent camper at every other festival I have ever been to, and as I am now in my latter years I feel less able for the oul tent … The problem I have is that they are charging an extra €60 on top of the ticket price and then saying that I can’t use the facilities that a camper provides, so seems like a bit of a scam. That you would be “only delighted to sleep in a camper van, gas or no gas” is neither here nor there … @conski – Did’nt know there was a right or wrong way of doing festivals …

did they specifically say that the gas canisters had to be disconnected from the campers? I would have presumed they meant no gas stoves in the campsites rather than in the campers

        Maybe an insurance issue?
More risk of fire means higher price for coverage?

I don’t know how insurance works.

Yet another reason why we should have built that nuclear power plant at Carnsore, I mean if you can’t use gas for your campervan then going nuclear is the next best option. For now it’s charcoal and an ice box OP

The organisers are banning gas so unhappy campers will eat the food cooked by the official caterers. This way of making more money from punters is called free market enterprise 101.

this festival is naff. They make a big deal out of sustainability by only selling water in reusable cartons rather than plastic bottles.

Where do they source the water from? “the teutoberg forest in germany”
