Over And Tout

Via Ticketmaster:

We’re shutting down Seatwave.

That’s right, we’ve listened and we hear you: secondary sites just don’t cut it anymore and you’re tired of seeing others snap up tickets just to resell for a profit.

All we want is you, the fan, to be able to buy tickets to the events you love.

So, we’re launching a fan-to-fan ticket exchange on Ticketmaster where you can easily buy tickets or sell tickets you can’t use at the price originally paid or less.

The new website will be rolled out in Europe early next year. But from today, there will be no new events listed on Seatwave.

We’re excited about making ticketing simpler. All you need to think about are those incredible experiences you’ll never forget.

FIGHT!

They sound so bloody smug about it, don’t they? Someone might want to have a word with them about that.

they were called out for being scumbags. They chose being smug over admitting their fault and growing as a business.

Mildred, if you every heard an interview with their boss or pr rep you’d chuck the wireless out the window

Why couldn’t they just say what they were doing would be criminal under new laws, fans were screaming this loud and clear for a very long time, is the truth too hard to say?

same as when the new EU Roaming laws changed governing mobile phone coverage and all the networks were saying how generous they were to offer such excellent deals. Not a peep about them only doing so to comply with the law and furiously digging to find new ways to dick over their customer base.

this function already exists via the excellent Toutless website/forum and has done for many years now….just genuine people buying/selling at face or for exchange

+1 for Toutless and the guys behind it.
It’s saved my bacon a few times and I’ve been happy to help others.
I can still see TM trying to take a cut of whatever fee is agreed!

Maybe they could offer to scrap the barcode from the original ticket and sell on the ticket with a new barcode ensuring that the ticket you receive cannot be fake or sold to more than one person.

Did the new legislation state how much a website could charge in fees for such a process?

      1. Jeffrey

No they have not! and this is where TM will no doubt get their cut, “Admin Fees” – have no limitations and are unlikely to have any put on them.

Is there actually news laws on the way addressing seatwave? I remember seeing someone talking about it but didn’t realise there was any movement on them.

Literally the only way Ticketmaster would shut down seatwave is if there was new laws afoot that would stop it. So i’m guessing there is

You must be the only person in the country that Noel Rock hasn’t told about his Anti-Ticket Touting legislation.

The lad even says it in his sleep
