A Prayer For The Pope on His Arrival In Ireland
As you munch the tarmac
At Dublin Airport
Arse in the air
May you be shafted
Then and there
By a rampant pink bear
One cassock-slashing
Pelvis-cracking thrust
For every child your church
Tore to shreds
Reduced to quivering dread
Or left for dead…
May you be thrown back
On your plane
And flown to The Hague
To face trial for the plague
Of vicious misery
You inflicted on your flock
With evasions so vague…
Get in the dock Pops
Swear on the bible
The truth the whole truth
And nothing but the truth
So you and your paedophile
Stormtroopers at last
Face your victims
To confess to aplogise
To compensate and exorcise
The demons of your disgrace
Before being dragged to the cells
And left to rot in your Rome-made Hells
Roddy McDevitt
If wrote that in the comment section it would be deleted. Mental ramblings. And I dislike the pope.
Yep. Ugly, hateful poem, recycling the evil by wishing rape on someone. Poor show.
A message from a survivor I am sharing here,
For those who cannot, for whatever reason – stand for them
For the babies who were sold in ”adoption” to the USA – stand for them
For those sent overseas to Australia – stand for them
For the grieving mothers – stand for them
For the silent fathers – stand for them
For those who cannot get access to birth records – stand for them
For those who lived out lives in industrial ‘schools’ because no one adopted them – stand for them
For those for whom it was too much, who took their own lives or sank to the bottom of bottles, pill packets & needles – stand for them
For those made to work as servants & laborours in their ‘adoptive homes’ – stand for them
For those sexually used & abused in their ‘adoptive homes’ – stand for them
For the tiny bodies lying buried in unmarked & mass graves, hidden underneath decades of shame (it’s not just Tuam you know) – stand for them
For those of us for whom these stories have been the very fabric of our lives, some of the stuff of which we are made – stand for us, stand WITH us in solidarity for freedom, for truth, for justice.

Far better than the poem wishing rape on somebody that Broadsheet chose to publish.
As compared to supporting an organisation that teaches and approves of child rape. I don’t know if you just like the wind up, but if you support this man and this church then you should be ashamed of yourself.

You know the the RCC doesn’t teach or approve of child rape. That’s just nonsense.
correct @newsjustin
just tolerates it
It has tolerated for too long individuals who commit those vile things. But, like i say, suggesting people teach it and approve of it is fantastical nonsense.
That’s perfect Janet, well said.
can’t take the credit for those words, they are those of a survivor but I agree they sum it up nicely
Give them a hug for me
We stand with them

That’s nice Janet.
Amazing why he has not been dragged by the scruff of the neck around all the different sites of the Irish holocaust
The only thing that the Nazi’s did that the church did
Was gas their victims and put then in ovens
At least when WW2 ended those responsible were dragged to those places of evil and put on trial
Words mean nothing
Yes. Words mean nothing if you compare Ireland’s history of abuse in and around Catholic institutions to the Nazi holocaust.
Yes Justin
For a country of 4 million if that compared to the whole of Europe its small but as evil
Violent rape imagery on any day – but on a day when we should be particularly mindful of abuse survivors. Edgy.
@newsjustin; I need some PR, some promotion, some hype….. you’re hired!
That spew is totally off the mark.
Unpleasant. I would prefer the Obama mantra: when they go low, we go high.
Roddy McDevitt performed at the Mark E Smith tribute night. He came across as oily, obnoxious and self-serving. This poem comes as no surprise. Serious issues.
Random House just published the poem I performed at the MES night… I’m happy to go with their version of events rather than your unfortunate underpant malfunction…. x
