Cú Chulainn
It’s a bit of weed. It should be legal. A case of youthful over exuberance. He’s likely on the spectrum pulling a silly stunt like that. What his mother is doing admitting his guilt is, however, unforgivable. Only thinking of herself. Should have kept her mouth shut except to support him.
Rob_G
€30k worth is more than ‘a bit of weed’.
(even accounting for the Gardaí’s inflated figures)
SOQ
How did an 18 year old get his hands on that sort of money if he wasn’t in the game already?
Although mammy trying to make media capital out of it is distasteful to say the least. If he goes to jail she has already made his life a lot harder but I suppose saving the brand is more important.
Custo
Why should it be legal?
Cian
@Custo : Why should it be illegal?
Rep
How is she trying to make media capital out of it?
The family released a statement, thats it.

@rep. Along with a picture? All of which just happened to get plastered on the front page of every newspaper. Hmm.
Rep
The fact that the son of one of the most famous tv chefs, who is part of a Irish culinary giant, got caught with €30k worth of grass means it was always going to get plastered on the front page of the papers. You seriously think that they did this to get media attention?
George
Go away out of it with your “on the spectrum” nonsense.
Don’t go diagnosing this kid with a medical condition you are not qualified to or even in a position to assess. You’re proof that a little knowledge can be dangerous.
Also why should it be legal? The burden of proof for that should be on the people who want it to be illegal. It is a plant.
Andyourpointiswhatexactly?
Maybe it’s the spectrum that runs from “a little bollix” to “a right bollix”.

30000 equals about 3750 street value. Its just weed , someone has to supply it because of the prohibition. god bless him. The x8 inflated police estimate is never questioned. To put it another way. you buy €100 bag of weed . the fuzz pinch you around the corner, you get charged with having €800 worth of weed. how long until the pigs start saying its 10 times the actual amount? 12 times? 15 times? basically meaning you can charge anyone with anything if you want, whenever you want. Hopefully this arrest actually helps the cannabis cause. the more poshos that get caught and let go, the faster they’ll have to make it legal.

prison for these kind of crimes doesn’t teach them a lesson, it gets them to make friends with criminals and to be more fupped up by the time they’re released.
Cian
What would you suggest is a just punishment for a drug importer/dealer?
Starina
legalisation of marijuana so law enforcement can concentrate on actual crime.
Cian
Okay – that makes sense – legalise the weed!
*I re-read this and it might sound sarcastic – but it isn’t.
Rob_G
I do think that weed should be either decriminalised or legalised, but this isn’t someone who was caught with a 10-spot they were going to smoke themselves – it is someone who got <€30k* together, and invested it in illegal drugs, which he was then going to supply to other people.
I wonder how he at 18 he managed to get the thousands of euro required to purchase a bulk order; I wonder if the people he bought the weed from are happy-clappy pot growers, or psychotic gangsters who also do a bit of pimping and the occasional murder?
*even accepting for Gardaí's mad figures, it was still a few grand
Starina
I assume he got the 30k from a combo of mammy and smaller deals. He’s definitely an eejit.
If it was legal, there wouldn’t be psychotic murderers in the path of grower-to-consumer.
Rob_G
No, I agree with you; but the case for ‘it should be legal’ is not the same as ‘he should be let off scot-free’, is what I am saying.

The factions behind the destruction of the labour parties whole morality and principles the same blairites and those who destroyed every principle that labour stood for got the biggest shock of their lives when Corbyn won now trying to return the party to its perverted past
Corbyn is neither antiemetic or a dressy up clone of Tory boy if he is serious of taking the next election to become PM
The grass roots labour supporters brought him to where he is and he must be loyal to what won him leadership
The top of the labour elite betrayed labours principles and Corbyn needs to clean house or expect more knives in his back than ceazar
The future of the labour party rests with a purge to rid its self of the cancer of those elements
And he owes this to the electorate

So the FF TDs are furious with Martin? Well, simple question then. Why don’t these ‘furious’ TDs take the mantle and become men (mostly), and vote with SF? Wouldn’t that bring the Duke of Cork’s leadership to the fore?
Oh no though – like their leader the ‘furious’ TDs will march half way up the hill, and back down again. A pack of FF cowards.
MaryLou's ArmaLite
Why don’t they vote with SF you ask? because no reasonable person wants to be associated with gangsters, thugs and murders.
