The entrance to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Poland

The 38-year-old Irish national, whose name is not reported, is said to have scratched his name onto the wall during a visit to the site on Sunday because he had seen other people’s names on it and thought it was the right thing to do.

The man was spotted by the Auschwitz Museum Guards who detained him but he was later released after pleading guilty, according to reports.

    What an absolute nitwit.

One of the most enraging things I’ve ever seen was people’s names scratched into the railings in the Aya Sofia in Istanbul. Followed closely by the amount of names inanely scribbled on the East Side Gallery in Berlin.

The Mail etc love these ‘stupid irish’ stories.
A friend works for a large irish company that have a London office. Last week they found out that the London staff refer to the irish as the spuds

It’s hardly a stupid Irish story.
It’s a story about an idiot who just happens to be Irish.
      You’re very thin-skinned.
      Like a new potato….

Meh, looking at €150 for the engraving at most. Expensive but you are in it for generations!
